It&#039;s that time of year again: Advent and Christmas. And of course, just like in previous years, I&#039;ve put together an overview of Munich&#039;s Christmas markets. This year, I even asked you a bit about your favorite places and, of course, I&#039;ve taken your suggestions to heart.<\/p>\n<p>My list of Munich Christmas markets covers everything from classic and colorful to cozy and inviting, perfect for a leisurely stroll \u2013 there&#039;s something for everyone. Included are the Medieval Christmas Market in Munich, the Munich Airport Christmas Market (or, for the first time this year, the &quot;Winter Market&quot; at the airport), Tollwood on the Theresienwiese, the traditional market at Marienplatz, the market at the Chinese Tower in the English Garden, the market at Blutenburg Castle, the Munich Fairy Tale Forest, and more. Opening times are always listed so you know how long you can enjoy drinking, celebrating, and getting into the Christmas spirit. The area surrounding Munich and the region around our beautiful city also has plenty to offer. I&#039;m sure you&#039;ll find a market that meets your needs. Take a look!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #d06590;\"><strong>THE CLASSICS<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>Anyone who knows Munich, lives here, and strolls through the markets every year will certainly be familiar with all of these. Even though they are among the most popular and sometimes very crowded markets, a visit is definitely worthwhile. They are all very centrally located and easily accessible by public transport. <strong>Marienplatz<\/strong> For example, you can admire Munich&#039;s largest Christmas tree with around 3,000 lights. <strong>Medieval Christmas Market<\/strong> In contrast, Salvatorplatz impresses with its extensive stage and music program, numerous craftspeople and exhibitors, and the winter landscape and idyllic setting. <strong>Chinese Tower<\/strong> The view over the (snow-covered) English Garden is simply unbeatable. Every market \u2013 even those known far beyond the city limits \u2013 has its own special charm.\u00a0<strong>Airport Christmas Market \/ Winter Market\u00a0<\/strong>Personally, I find it a bit chilly, as the surroundings don&#039;t feel Christmassy at all. The following belong to this category for me personally. <strong>Haidhausen Christmas Market<\/strong> It&#039;s incredibly idyllic, probably precisely because it&#039;s quite manageable in size. The mulled wine tastes fantastic, and the various stalls and booths, arranged in a circle, invite you to browse, drink mulled wine, and linger. But the...\u00a0<strong>Neuhaus Christmas Market<\/strong>, as well as the inviting\u00a0<strong>Christmas village in the Munich Residence\u00a0<\/strong>Definitely worth a visit or two. I&#039;m there every year for a couple of mulled wines, at least.\u00a0<strong>Blutenburg Christmas Magic<\/strong> It only lasts four days, but you should definitely visit it \u2013 if only for the magnificent castle. And also on\u00a0<strong>Sendling Christmas Market<\/strong> There is plenty to see right at Harras, as well as various Christmas treats.\u00a0<strong>The Bogenhausen Christmas Magic Forest<\/strong> This year marks the 7th edition of the event, which attracts visitors with numerous exhibitors, culinary delights, and a charity event every Sunday. It&#039;s also Munich&#039;s only market where the stalls are open and the mulled wine mugs are full until 10 pm.
