Thank you! +++<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Wine Department at Kaufland \u2013 Buying Wine &amp; My Experience | It&#039;s no secret that more and more supermarkets are offering a steadily growing and extensive selection of wines. Often, and especially in larger supermarket chains, the selection is more extensive than in some wine shops. This variety really surprised me and motivated me to take a closer look.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: -7px;\"><b>Wine shopping at the supermarket at Kaufland<\/b><\/h1>\n<p>The sheer size of the selection and the (usually) inevitable anonymity of shopping in a supermarket (&quot;I don&#039;t know much about wine, it&#039;s less noticeable in a supermarket.&quot;) are particularly appealing to people who are simply looking for &quot;a good wine for a meal with friends&quot; and don&#039;t know much about wine. Buying wine at Kaufland.<\/p><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: -0px;\"><b>Selection and description of my wines<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>To get a good mix, I planned to buy three different wines: a white, a red, and a ros\u00e9. The white was to be a classic Riesling from Oestrich in the Rheingau region. A &quot;Save Water -\u2013 Drink Riesling Fruity,&quot; which a friend said was a real insider tip. Simple, high acidity due to its origin, and\u2014as the name suggests\u2014fruity and uncomplicated, just like the label design. A wine that a young and open-minded person would readily reach for, even if they didn&#039;t yet have a clear idea of what it would taste like. The wine ended up in my shopping basket.<\/p>\n<p>For the red wine, I chose a soft and full-bodied &quot;Doppio Passo Primitivo&quot; from southern Italy with an intense aroma and a dry, fruity note. This wine \u2013 produced in the Apulian region of Salento \u2013 is made from hand-picked, ripe Primitivo grapes. The unique aspect of its production lies in the process, which involves returning the wine to the skins after the first fermentation for a second fermentation. During this &quot;double pass&quot; (doppio passo, as the name suggests), the wine develops an even more intense color and a slightly sweet aroma. I also took this bottle with me for the tasting.<\/p>\n<p>My third wine for testing, a ros\u00e9 from W\u00fcrttemberg, comes from the Lauffen winegrowers&#039; cooperative: The velvety-smooth Lauffener Samtrot Ros\u00e9 owes its name to the Samtrot grape, a &quot;varietal&quot; of Pinot Noir. It is said to impress with its delicate aromas and sweet taste, was previously unknown to me, and also ended up in my shopping basket.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: -0px;\"><b>The wine department at Kaufland&#039;s specialist stores<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Not all Kaufland specialty stores have the same wine selection, which is naturally due to the size of the store, as well as its regional focus and proximity to wine-growing areas. Even the smallest Kaufland selection includes wines from nearly 50 wine-growing regions in over 19 countries. As in any supermarket, it&#039;s easy to get lost in the large wine department with its diverse selection. That&#039;s the downside of anonymity: finding a specialist salesperson is difficult. As is finding the wines I wanted. I had to search for five minutes for Riesling and ros\u00e9, and I couldn&#039;t find the Italian red wine at all in the first store, but then found it after just 30 seconds in the second. What struck me while browsing the wine shelves was the incredible selection at Kaufland \u2013 at least in the larger stores, like the one I visited in Munich. From simple table wines for just a few euros to top-quality wines, including 30 wines awarded the &quot;Master of Wine&quot; title. VDP, vegan, and organic wines round out the extensive range.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: -0px;\"><b>Personal impression and conclusion<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>I inquired: Kaufland works with around 200 medium-sized suppliers who offer wines from over 10,000 winemakers. And my wines from the Kaufland wine section? All three ended up in different wine glasses at a leisurely dinner with friends, complete with a set menu. My favorite is the fruity Riesling from Oestrich in the Rheingau region. Easy to drink \u2013 also available as a dry version at Kaufland, by the way \u2013 followed by the Doppio Passo Primitivo \u2013 which I served with game at my friends&#039; house. My conclusion: Trying a wine or two from the supermarket? Absolutely! If you know what you want beforehand or are open to a surprise or two.
