DB Regio Bayern \u2013 with Deutsche Bahn through Bavaria\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 Some of you may have already seen on my Instagram account that I traveled with a DB Regio ticket from Deutsche Bahn on June 28th. The challenge for me and four other blogger teams was "City, Country, River". five different routes through Bavaria<\/a> At each of three different locations (one in a city, one in the countryside, and one on a river), the challenge participants discovered a great hotspot. In the end, five exciting tours were created. But only one wins!\u00a0More information here<\/a>My travel companion Eva and I took the Munich-Nuremberg regional ticket from Munich via Ingolstadt to Kinding in the Altm\u00fchl Valley and Nuremberg.<\/p>\n

I've already given you a brief glimpse into our morning departure from Munich and our late return journey from Nuremberg, but what happened in between was much more exciting. \ud83d\ude42 So, I'd like to "virtually take you along" on our DB Regio Bavaria tour. Firstly, to encourage you to try out a regional ticket for just \u20ac20 (plus \u20ac6 for each additional passenger (max. 5 people)), and secondly, because ultimately, it's you who decide whether my tour is a success. \ud83d\ude42 Admittedly, until now, train travel and discovering new parts of my own state weren't exactly my hobbies \u2013 but they certainly are now. "All aboard!" \u2013 join me on my journey from Munich to Nuremberg, with a stopover in Kinding in the Altm\u00fchl Valley. It was simply wonderful!<\/p>\n

1st Stop (Start): MUNICH (Category: City)<\/b><\/h1>\n


Munich is my hometown. So, of course, I know my way around. But finding a good breakfast near the main train station before boarding isn't so easy. There's one bakery after another, kebab shops here and there, small supermarkets, and kiosks in the station hall. It might not be a bad idea for the train journey, but it wasn't what my travel companion Eva and I had in mind. Heavy meals aren't recommended when traveling, and we were craving a healthy, substantial, and satisfying breakfast.<\/p>\n

Our first stop, and also my recommendation for you to start your journey from Munich refreshed, is the relatively newly opened shop about a 9-10 minute walk away. \u201eBowls & Blenders<\/a>\u201c <\/strong>Located on Augustenstra\u00dfe, this restaurant offers six different breakfast bowls (starting at a reasonable \u20ac6.80), "main course bowls"\u2014seven different options starting at \u20ac8\u2014and, of course, a variety of "blenders." For those unfamiliar, these are a type of smoothie in various flavors, with six different options available starting at \u20ac5.80. You can add "add-ons" (berries, granola, protein, almond milk, etc., for \u20ac0.80 each) to both the breakfast and lunch bowls, as well as the blenders. You'll definitely leave satisfied, but not overstuffed, and ready for a great day exploring Bavaria.<\/p>\n

So if you have some time to spare before heading out to these delicious bowls, do as we did and grab one to take with you. The best part: depending on what time your train leaves Munich, you can spontaneously decide whether you'd prefer a breakfast or main course bowl. If you have even more time, you can enjoy your bowl in the Old Botanical Garden, right next to the train station, complete with a fountain. We had to catch our train, so we grabbed a few snacks. 2nd stop (interim stop): KINDING in the ALTM\u00dcHLTAL (Category: Land & River)<\/b><\/h2>\n

Hike along the Altm\u00fchl<\/p><\/div>\n

So\u2026you were already there when we got off the train, and then the hiking route started right away. Kinding in the Altm\u00fchl Valley was the focus of our Bavarian trip. Firstly, because a great hike to the chosen country inn lay ahead of us (about 5.5 kilometers on foot), and secondly, because we discovered both land and water at this station. The train station is called "Kinding (Altm\u00fchltal)" and is about an hour and 15-20 minute train ride (with the regional train) from Munich. After about 5 minutes of initial walking along a winding road, we arrived at a roundabout, which marked our destination, the \u201eWagner Country Inn in Unteremmendorf<\/a><\/strong>\u201c"as already announced. The inn, which we had already chosen from Munich, includes not only a truly excellent restaurant serving upscale Bavarian regional cuisine, but also a modern hotel. We couldn't stay overnight, but choosing the inn as our hiking destination was a perfect choice. We crossed a river beforehand, wandered through fields and meadows along the Altm\u00fchl, and thoroughly enjoyed the hike. Not far from there lies the idyllic Kratzm\u00fchlsee lake, complete with a barbecue area, a small lakeside restaurant, and the option to have a picnic on the water with a boat. We only stopped briefly, as Nuremberg was calling us. But see for yourselves:"<\/p>\n

3rd Stop (Destination): NUREMBERG (Category: City & Water)<\/b><\/h3>\n

The Altm\u00fchl Valley is beautiful, isn't it? But Nuremberg has just as much to offer. Although I'd been to the Franconian city before, I'd never had the chance to wander through the old town, get to know the city, eat original Nuremberg Rostbratwurst (grilled sausages), and visit one of Nuremberg's lakes (the W\u00f6hrder See, about 15 minutes from the main train station). Nuremberg is beautiful. Just a stone's throw from the train station, you reach the city wall, wander through the narrow lanes, and find yourself in the old town. I especially loved the architecture, the blend of old and new, and the many branching alleyways, hidden paths, and charming squares. I also enjoyed the fact that the city is crisscrossed by waterways, that you can relax and unwind in the lovely little cafes, and that a lake with a sandy beach isn't far away. It was in Nuremberg that we truly realized how much we had experienced in just one day for only \u20ac20. Although our feet were a little sore after the hike and the tour of Nuremberg, our dinner at the restaurant "\u201eC\u00f4c\u00f4 \u2013 Indochine<\/strong><\/a>\u201cBut it gave us new strength. In our last video, we already mentioned that the day was absolutely worth it. For just \u20ac20 with the DB Regio ticket, the train took us from Munich to Ingolstadt, then to Kinding in the Altm\u00fchl Valley for hiking and a visit to the lake, and finally to Nuremberg. The return journey is included, and you can even travel with the ticket until 3:00 a.m. the next day. For Eva and me, the trip was worthwhile from start to finish, and as soon as we got off the train at the station, we were already saying to each other that we'd check out other DB Regio Bavaria routes.
