Der Gin ist ein ganz besonderer, da er nach der Destillation mit Rosenbl\u00fcten verfeinert und aromatisiert wird. So bekommt er zus\u00e4tzlich den wundervollen rosa Farbton sowie die Aromen von frischen Rosenbl\u00fcten. Ich habe probiert und mich der Geschichte dahinter sowie den Besonderheiten\u00a0gewidmet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: -7px;\"><b>Den Rose Gin von Glendalough kennenlernen<\/b><\/h1>\n<p>Keine Sorge, auch wenn ihr keine allzu gro\u00dfen Gin-Kenner seid, macht es eine gro\u00dfe Freude, sich mit dem Rose Gin von Glendalough auseinander zu setzen. Ich besch\u00e4ftige mich immer gerne mit der Geschichte dahinter, bevor ich ein neues Produkt, in diesem Fall Getr\u00e4nk, kennenlerne.<\/p>\n<p>Zuerst gehen wir dem Namen auf den Grund. Warum hei\u00dft der Glendalough Gin eigentlich &#8222;Rose Gin&#8220;? \u2013 Urspr\u00fcnglich wurde er kreiert, um die verstorbene Mutter der Ronney-Br\u00fcder zu ehren und ihn somit auf\u00a0der Hochzeit des\u00a0Bruders von Distiller Rowdy Rooney auszuschenken. Somit entstand die erste Charge Glendalough Rose Gin tats\u00e4chlich aus den Rosen von Rooneys Garten. Da der Gin bei den G\u00e4sten und vielen weiteren Verkostern so gut ankam, wurde er als Rose Gin von Glendalough herausgebracht.<\/p>\n<p>Um den Rose Gin richtig einzuordnen, ist wichtig zu wissen, dass es sich bei diesem nicht um einen typischen Pink Gin, wie es\u00a0ihn vielfach auf dem Markt gibt, handelt. Er ist viel mehr ein Rosen-Gin, der &#8222;zuf\u00e4llig auch pink&#8220; ist. Der Rose Gin von Glendalough ist vollkommen anders, als ein Pink Gin. Diese werden \u00fcberwiegend k\u00fcnstlich aromatisiert und gef\u00e4rbt, sind oft sehr s\u00fc\u00df und meist nicht prim\u00e4r auf\u00a0Wacholder destilliert. Gestartet wird mit der Mazeration. Das bedeutet, dass die frischen Rosenbl\u00fctenbl\u00e4tter gemeinsam mit den anderen Botanicals \u00fcber Nacht in\u00a0einer Kupferbrennblase (auch &#8222;Pott Still&#8220; genannt) ruhen. Das dient der bewusst langsamen und schonenden Extraktion der Aromen \u2013 es wird also nicht sofort los destilliert. Erst im Anschluss und Schritt zwei wird dann in der Kupferbrennblase destilliert \u2013 dabei werden\u00a0durch die Erhitzung aus dem aufsteigenden Dampf noch mehr essenzielle \u00d6le extrahiert. Es folgt die Dampfdestillation \u2013 ein sehr wichtiger Schritt f\u00fcr den Rose Gin. Hierbei wird der Dampf aus der Brennblase durch mit Rosenbl\u00e4ttern gef\u00fcllte K\u00f6rbe geleitet. Das ist zwar eine zeitaufw\u00e4ndige Methode, jedoch werden so noch mehr der delikaten Aromen der Rosenbl\u00e4tter extrahiert. Der letzte wichtige und vierte Schritt ist die Infusion. Hier wird dem Destillat ein Netz mit weiteren frischen Rosenbl\u00e4ttern hinzugef\u00fcgt. Dadurch wird die rosa Farbe noch weiter intensiviert und die floralen Noten verst\u00e4rken sich erneut. Verarbeitet werden mitunter Wacholder, Koriander, Engelwurz, frische Bio-Zitronen, Holunderblu\u0308te, Heidelkraut und viele weitere Botanicals. Zus\u00e4tzlich werden auch neue Botanicals (Rosa Pfefferk\u00f6rner, Kardamom, ganze Orangen, Hibiskusbl\u00fcten und nat\u00fcrlich frische Rosen) hinzugef\u00fcgt, um die floralen Noten zu betonen und hervorzuheben.<\/p>\n<p>Das besondere sind neben der Vielfalt an Aromen und Botanicals nat\u00fcrlich auch die frischen Rosen, welche zum Herstellen des Rose Gins von Glendalough verwendet werden. Dabei greift Glendalough auf drei Sorten Rosen zur\u00fcck, welche eigens vor Ort gez\u00fcchtet werden: Die Heritage Rosen, die Damaszener Rosen und die wilde Wicklow Rose. Jede der drei Sorten hat eine ganz eigene Geschichte. Die Heritage Rose ist eine traditionelle Gartenrose und wurde neben ihrem\u00a0Aussehen in erster Linie auch ihrer Aromen wegen kultiviert. Die Bl\u00fcten halten nur einige Tage bevor sie auseinanderfallen und sind unglaublich aromatisch. Die mit einer F\u00fclle an essentiellen \u00d6len angereicherte Damaszener Rose hingegen ist die \u00e4lteste Rosensorte und wurde bereits in der Antike angebaut \u2013 einst noch zur Herstellung von Rosen\u00f6l, Parfums und Rosenwasser \u2013 heute ist sie Zutat des Rose Gins. Die Wilde Wicklow Rose wiederum ist extrem selten und schwer zu finden. Es kann Tage dauern, bis man eine kleine Handvoll Bl\u00fcten von ihr beisammen hat. Wie viele wilde Botanicals hat\u00a0sie\u00a0ebenfalls eine gro\u00dfe F\u00fclle an tollen Aromen. Oder doch lieber pur?<\/p><\/div>\n<h3 style=\"font-size: 15px; margin-bottom: -0px;\"><b>Den Glendalough Gin verkosten<\/b><\/h3>\n<p>Bevor der Gin f\u00fcr diverse Mixgetr\u00e4nke von mir verwendet wird, wird nat\u00fcrlich erst einmal pur beziehungsweise on the Rocks probiert. In der Nase herrschen Aromen von Zitrone, Blutorange und eine Wacholdernote sowie die\u00a0tiefe\u00a0 Aromatik frischer Rosen vor. Probiert ihr den Gin, schmeckt ihr deutlich heraus, was ihr zuvor schon beim Schnuppern wahrgenommen habt: Eine deutliche Rosennote, Beeren und Zitrus mit einer feinen und, wie ich finde, sehr angenehmen sowie nicht aufdringlichen S\u00fc\u00dfe.
