Irresistible chocolates from Neuhaus | NATAN gift box – A while ago I told you about Neuhaus (Read the article about NeuhausThat Belgian chocolate house, which now offers its excellent pralines almost all over the world and has been celebrating its 160th anniversary this year – all made exclusively in Belgium from the finest Belgian chocolate. This is naturally also the case in Munich, and so Theatinerstrasse, with its Neuhaus praline store, has long been one of my favorites for high-quality pralines. One of the absolute classics and perennial favorites in their selection is the "Irresistibles" praline. New, however, is the current NATAN Irresistibles gift box from Neuhaus, which offers the Irresistibles pralines "Caprice," "Tentation," "Séduction," "Desir," and "Plaisir" with five different fillings in a chic collection. I'm lucky enough to own one of these collections, have tested them, and want to share them with you – at least virtually.

How did the collaboration between Neuhaus and NATAN come about? Neuhaus regularly offers exciting and diverse special collections – both for true connoisseurs of high-quality chocolates and for anyone seeking new delicacies in the chocolate market. From the very beginning, Neuhaus has stood for the highest quality in Belgian chocolate. NATAN – originally founded by Edouard Vermeulen as an upscale fashion label focusing on stylish and contemporary women's fashion – reflects this image in the fashion world. The idea of offering a Neuhaus special collection that showcases and unites their shared commitment to the highest quality, elegance, and exclusivity was born. This collection is now available in all Neuhaus branches as well as... on-line The NATAN gift box, available for purchase, ultimately contains 17 of the delicious Irresistible pralines in five varieties, packaged in a sleek and simply elegant black and white chocolate box. Vermeulen's past also played a significant role in the selection and compilation of the collection. "There was always a Neuhaus Ballotin on the table at my grandparents' house, and the pralines were always my absolute favorite. Whenever I bite into a Caprice from Les Irrésistibles, I feel like a little boy again," says Edouard Vermeulen about the new NATAN Collection. I can understand him, because the Caprice praline is one of the absolute classics and bestsellers in the Neuhaus range for good reason. Besides the finest chocolate quality, distinguished by a crispy nougat brittle ("nougatine"), hand-filled with fresh vanilla cream and coated in the finest dark chocolate, the Irresistibles – in all their variations – are also among my Neuhaus favorites. The limited-edition gift box perfectly reflects the shared passion for quality and elegance between Neuhaus and NATAN.

Neuhaus in Munich

No box is so beautiful that you wouldn't eventually want to open it. And when the moment arrives, a first glance reveals a layer of 17 exquisite Irresistibles pralines. Incidentally, "Les Irresistibles" have been the absolute star pralines in the Neuhaus range since 1958. "Caprice" (croquant, hand-filled with buttercream and vanilla from Madagascar) and "Tentation" (croquant, hand-filled with Arabica coffee ganache) were created for the "Expo 58" World's Fair in Brussels and are among my favorites in the collection. The "Séduction" variety consists of praline, hand-filled with raspberry buttercream; "Desir" of praline, hand-filled with dark Peruvian chocolate ganache; and the "Plaisir" of praline, hand-filled with hazelnut ganache. Visually, these pralines are truly impressive. The five varieties of pralines consist of an artfully shaped brittle shell, are filled by hand with fresh cream or ganache, and coated in milk or dark chocolate. What makes the collection, or rather the NATAN gift box, unique is not only the exceptional shape and filling of each Neuhaus praline, but also the high quality, the variety of fillings, and the elegant packaging design. In my opinion, the most defining characteristic, of course, remains the taste experience of the first bite of one of these pralines. Mmm!

All you have to do is head to Theatinerstraße 3 and you'll see – at least that's how it was on my last visit – the NATAN Collection displayed right in the entrance/window area. Edouard Vermeulen himself puts it this way: “It’s more than a praline, it’s a full dessert,” and I completely agree. You don’t just pop a Neuhaus praline, or rather an Irresistibles praline, into your mouth and move on; no, you savor such a praline, you enjoy it as a dessert you’ve been looking forward to all evening, appreciating its quality, elegance, and superior craftsmanship. The moment I bit into an Irresistibles praline, I exclaimed, „Perfect!“ and that hasn’t changed since. One – after a meal, or with coffee or tea – is perfectly sufficient to create your own Neuhaus or NATAN moment. If you know someone who appreciates fine food and fashion, you should definitely check out this special collection. While the Irresistibles are offered as a regular collection (five different pieces), they are not available as a permanent special edition. The NATAN gift box costs €45, and you get 17 wonderful moments of enjoyment – 100%ig worthwhile and perfect for Christmas, in between or for „in the middle“ of the set coffee table.
