Cafes with free Wi-Fi Sometimes you just get cabin fever at home and want to get out. But you don't want to leave work undone. So, it's time to grab your laptop and head out into the city. But where to go? Which places offer Wi-Fi? Ideally, free Wi-Fi? This used to take me a lot of time and effort, so I've compiled a list of the best cafes and venues with free Wi-Fi. Depending on the location, you might need to ask the staff, buy a drink at the counter, or use a voucher.

I've sat in all of the following locations with my laptop, enjoying a good breakfast, coffee and cake or a drink, and worked comfortably for a few hours "among people." If you're missing a location where you also like to sit, study, work, type, or simply surf the web on your computer, please let me know via email (Write to me here!) know. (This also certainly applies here: Munich's restaurant scene is fast-paced and constantly changing. Has a location closed or lost its internet connection and you know about it? Please let me know briefly so I can update my list.)

11. MAELU (busy café) – ask on site!
A café with absolutely divine cakes, macarons, éclairs, pralines, and other treats. The café area is on the first floor with a view of Theatinerstrasse. Service is included, though the noise level can be a bit high at times. Be sure to sample the macarons while you work.

12. Café Kreislauf (cozy café)
A small café in Untersendling with good coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. They also offer cakes, tarte flambée, and light snacks, as well as lunch. The café features art by painters, photographers, and other artists, and you're welcome to bring your laptop and relax. Article to follow.

13. Café Ringelnatz (cozy café / restaurant)
A cozy café with delicious tapas, soups, pasta, vegan dishes, and Sunday brunch, all in a great atmosphere. Not the place to linger forever, but surfing the web and working is perfectly possible. Article to follow.

14. RELAX Restaurant at the Mercure City Munich (hotel restaurant/café) – ask on site!

15. Black Bean (coffeeshop chain) – e.g., Münchner Freiheit accessible without a code word
Black Bean Coffee Company in Munich has three locations: Amalienstraße, Münchner Freiheit (the largest), and Pündterplatz. Each location offers comfortable sofas and seating, along with delicious snacks and drinks. Similar to Starbucks or SFCC, Black Bean is a chain specifically designed for "coffee and work.".

16. Trachtenvogel (Restaurant)
A charmingly rustic café on Reichenbachstrasse. Reservations are not accepted. They offer delicious dishes that change regularly, breakfast daily from 9:00 am to 2:30 pm, and of course, good coffee and a wide selection of teas. It's a pleasant place to linger, whether for working, chatting, or relaxing. Article to follow.

17. Anna Hotel (chic restaurant/bar/lounge) – ask on site!
A very well-known hotel located between Munich's main train station and Karlsplatz (Stachus). It has a very chic, trendy bar with numerous tables for dining. It gets very crowded at lunchtime and in the evening, making it difficult to concentrate and work. During the day, however, it's cozy, stylish, and has a pleasant atmosphere. Delicious drinks and good food. It has more of a lounge/restaurant feel. Article to follow.

18. Mc Cafés (Mc Donalds cafe chain) – Usually 3 hours free via Telekom dial-up! (As of 02/17)
Perhaps not the most cozy, but usually equipped with 3 hours of free Wi-Fi via Telekom. They also offer fresh cakes, cookies, sandwiches, and other treats. Some branches (e.g., Munich Airport, Stachus, Isartor, etc.) clearly separate the McCafé area from the fast-food section, creating a fairly authentic café atmosphere.

19. Starbucks (cozy coffee shop chain) – Unlimited free access!
Starbucks probably isn't the best recommendation for you 😉 but it works pretty well overall. Depending on the branch, I sometimes enjoy sitting in a Starbucks for an hour or two working on my laptop. Whether it's good value for money is debatable, but the marble cake is delicious and the Wi-Fi is fast and free. Article to follow.

20. be-happy (Coffee, cake, Wi-Fi) – A reader's tip for a small and nice café in Obergiesing with Wi-Fi and delicious cakes.

21. Hoover & Floyd (small, cozy café) – Wi-Fi available on request

22. Loretta Bar (small bar) – Wi-Fi available on request

I hope the above list can help you a little and that you will find a suitable place where you feel comfortable working more quickly in the future.

Maybe we'll bump into each other sometime... 😉

Have fun in the cafes with free Wi-Fi! icons_hot51
