I found the idea so exciting that I wanted to know more and promptly met with the founding team to learn more about ORDA and ORDA COOKS. Anyone who enjoys eating and cooking, and perhaps is even considering starting their own business in this field, should definitely read on.
Get to know the ORDA app
There seems to be an endless number of apps, startups, and ideas related to food, and more and more foodies are trying to establish themselves in the market with their ideas. The fact that this also leads to the emergence of truly excellent concepts with fantastic ideas that genuinely help us in our daily lives, save time, and even connect us is demonstrated by the young founding team of ORDA.
The basic idea for ORDA originated in 2018, primarily with the aim of saving time when ordering food from a restaurant during the limited lunch break or the hectic pace of everyday life. A lot of valuable time is wasted when we only decide what we want to eat or takeaway once we're there. So why not conveniently order and pay in advance via the ORDA app, and then have your food served or picked up at the time specified in the app?

With this practical idea and a win-win situation for both sides – restaurants and customers – ORDA quickly attracted more than 130 different Munich restaurants and developed into a marketplace for food. Due to the steadily growing awareness of an environmentally friendly lifestyle and conscious consumption, the topic of sustainability also became increasingly important for ORDA. By 2020, ORDA was ready to expand its core concept and implement and broaden its reach with many additional goals.
Due to the situation prevailing since the end of 2019 due to the coronavirus pandemic, further expansion of ORDA in connection with the restaurant industry was virtually impossible – restaurants had to close, uncertainty grew, we all had to eat at home, and the focus shifted, by necessity, to takeaway and delivery services. This dramatic closure of the restaurant industry coincided with a steady increase in the number of people cooking at home.
The original idea behind ORDA – to pre-order food at a restaurant and eat without waiting – quickly became obsolete, and a rapid increase in "to-go" orders was recorded. From March to the end of 2020, both the number of participating restaurants and the number of people using the ORDA app to discover open restaurants offering good, healthy, and varied to-go food nearby and to pre-order via the app grew significantly. Parallel to this inevitable change for the restaurant industry and everyone else, the idea for ORDA Cooks was born: to give (hobby) cooks the opportunity to cook at home and share their meals with others.

ORDA Cooks – suitable for both hobby and professional cooks
ORDA Cooks is many things in one: a platform for amateur cooks, professional chefs, and those who aspire to be; a new perspective on the culinary world; and the option to discover and develop one's own potential in the culinary and cooking sector. This led to the expansion of the ORDA app's functionality and the creation of ORDA COOKS.
Simply put, ORDA COOKS allows you to share and offer your home-cooked meals to other people you don't know. For example, you can cook a dish you've loved since childhood or Grandma's "secret recipe," specify the number of portions available and your preparation costs, and then have other registered users pick up those portions. The idea is also to provide access to food that isn't available in restaurants and to continually discover new culinary delights.

Of course, a sophisticated technical system lies behind the app, and everything has been thought of. For example, you can register with ORDA COOKS as a "Procook" or "Hobbycook" and decide for yourself whether you simply want to cook and share food "just for fun," or whether you want to run your own business with ORDA as your supporter and platform for promotion. ORDA also thinks ahead here and supports people who may have been considering becoming self-employed in this sector for some time. You can choose to become an ORDA Procook with your own business, and the ORDA team will support you throughout the entire process (setting up a business, complying with all regulations, hygiene requirements, kitchen inspection, health and safety training, etc.). Without significant risk, you can assess your own capabilities and find out how your cooking, your idea, and your concept are received.
ORDA combines two main areas: numerous listed restaurants offering the option to pre-order, pay online, and pick up your food, and COOKS, where you can offer your own home-cooked meals. ORDA COOKS is designed for both private home cooks on a non-commercial, donation-based basis and (potential) professional cooks who want to try their hand at cooking. The O-Box and other pro aspects of ORDA
Another advantage of ORDA: Due to the growing demand for takeaway food, ORDA has now established its own reusable system for takeaway food, and numerous restaurants now offer the "O-Box" ("ORDA-Box"), in which you can have your takeaway food filled and reuse it again and again – of course, you can also have your food cooked by the Hobbycooks filled into an O-Box.
With sustainability in mind, a CO2 offsetting function has now been introduced into the app for all dishes, and further technical improvements have been made in all other areas. You can now see approximately how long you will have to wait for your dish, or how quickly it will be available after ordering. ORDA has also implemented a comprehensive point-of-sale system for participating restaurants.

If you use the app as an ORDA COOKS cook, you'll also have access to numerous additional features. For example, every ORDA COOK is rated by customers, can upload videos and photos of their dishes, specify the number of portions and ingredients available, and connect with their growing community. Payment is handled directly by ORDA, so all you have to do is hand over your food at the door and enjoy the potential additional donation you receive for your meal.

In short, ORDA supports everyone who loves to cook, eat, and share their culinary creations. The platform also provides support for restaurateurs, home cooks, and those who aspire to become chefs and/or restaurateurs. Thus, ORDA not only simplifies the process for both restaurateurs and hungry customers, but also supports foodies in starting their own businesses.
For me personally ORDA is the only app I know that allows me to digitally offer my home-cooked meals, share them, and enjoy them with others. Conversely, I open the ORDA app and can decide completely freely and spontaneously whether to pick up food from a restaurant, eat it there without wasting time, or try something completely new from a local home cook. Wasting food that's been cooked too much can also be avoided, since I, as an ORDA cook, can spontaneously upload my dishes at any time or even announce them in advance for the coming days. I have the ORDA app on my phone for a long time and will try my hand at being an ORDA hobby cook, as well as increasingly ordering food through it – without any loss of time, even if I want to eat in the restaurant on site, or simply want to try something new from private individuals or aspiring pro cooks.
