Only with Mastercard in March: Enjoy a multi-course meal with a view of the Residenz Theatre | The Mastercard culinary journey continues in March 2026, taking you this time to one of Munich's most glamorous locations. This month, you'll once again have the opportunity to discover a select Munich restaurant with Mastercard, enjoying an exclusive menu. Bookings can be made as usual via the experience platform priceless.com.
After experiencing the Italian zest for life at Rustikeria in February, the atmosphere now takes a particularly elegant and stately turn: We're off to the renowned Spatenhaus restaurant near the Opera House. In the exclusive fine-dining area on the upper floor, sophisticated Bavarian cuisine meets an unparalleled ambiance. While your gaze falls directly upon the National Theatre and the Residence from the windows, you'll enjoy a culinary experience that pampers you at the highest level and perfectly captures the charm of Munich's city center. Together with my companion, I enjoyed the multi-course meal. Tested for you in advance. (Here is the link leads to the publications and menus of previous years.)
Spatenhaus at the Opera – Fine dining at one of Munich's most exclusive addresses
Directly opposite the National Theatre, at one of the city's most famous and prestigious addresses, you'll find the historic Spatenhaus am Opernplatz. While the ground floor is known for its lively atmosphere, the upper floor offers a completely unique and exclusive world of fine dining.
Even as you ascend to the first floor, you'll sense that an evening of elegance and Bavarian grandeur awaits you. In the various historically significant rooms, each exuding its own refined character, you'll experience a hospitality that perfectly blends tradition and modern sophistication. It's this very special charm of Munich's history that is palpable in every detail and makes your visit truly special from the very first moment.
The fine-dining menu features a first-class selection of dishes that elevate Bavarian classics to a new, sophisticated level. Here, the focus is on the finest ingredients and artisanal perfection, far removed from rustic everyday fare. Whether it's artfully prepared meat dishes, freshly caught fish, or vegetarian creations with an international flair – every course is a tribute to the art of living well. The ambiance of the private dining rooms, combined with the unparalleled view of the Residenz and the Opera House, creates an atmosphere that is both intimate and impressive. It's the ideal place to take your time, savor the quality of the food, and leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind for a few hours.
The Spatenhaus at the Opera is a place where you can experience Bavarian tradition at its finest. The combination of a historic setting and modern haute cuisine makes every visit a highlight of your culinary calendar. That's precisely why you shouldn't miss the exclusive opportunity to enjoy the Mastercard menu in March 2026 and experience this Munich classic at its best.
The tasting menu at the Spatenhaus restaurant near the opera house in March 2026
From March 1st to 31st, 2026, you have the opportunity to truly indulge yourself on the upper floor of the Spatenhaus. The menu awaiting you there is a journey through refined Bavarian cuisine with modern, luxurious twists. It begins with a true harbinger of spring: confit Arctic char on a crisp fennel salad in orange broth. The saffron mayonnaise provides the flavor accent, which harmonizes beautifully with the Viennese Gemischter Satz from the Wieninger winery – 0.1l per course and wine in a glass. Why does it work so well? The wine's complexity complements the delicate spiciness of the saffron, while its freshness plays perfectly with the acidity of the orange broth. A clever start that whets the appetite for what's to come.
Then things take an elegant turn, both in the glass and on the plate. You're served a lobster bisque so intense and creamy that it would be a highlight on its own. This is accompanied by a Pinot Noir Rosé from the "Kuffler Edition" of the Reichsgraf von Kesselstadt estate. The rosé's delicate berry fruit breaks up the richness of the bisque, creating a wonderful balance. During your visit, you'll immediately recognize the expertise of professionals who skillfully demonstrate how modern wine pairing works without being overly complicated. Both the fish and the lobster bisque were among my favorites of the evening.
The main course shone with its refined presentation and aromatic flavor. You can expect pink-roasted veal rump, enhanced with a deep, dark truffle jus. Together with the creamy mashed potatoes and braised baby carrots, this main course is undeniably true comfort food at a fine-dining level. The legendary "Black Print" from Markus Schneider is the perfect accompaniment – besides the rosé, it's my favorite wine pairing. This cuvée makes a real statement, possessing enough power and dark fruit to stand up to the intense truffle notes and the veal rump. A bullseye!
For a sweet finale, a classic vanilla crème brûlée awaits you. Cracking the paper-thin sugar shell and savoring the creamy center is, of course, the highlight of the dessert. As a special touch, a Rémy Martin VSOP cognac will be served alongside. The cognac's warm, spicy aromas are the perfect partner for the vanilla and elegantly round off the entire menu. It is precisely this blend of Bavarian tradition and a touch of luxury that will make your evening at the Spatenhaus an der Oper in March 2026 so special. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply want to treat yourself – this menu, including wine pairings and a digestif, is a perfectly harmonious experience that you shouldn't miss.
My conclusion and your booking
My visit to the fine-dining area of the Spatenhaus at the Opera House once again confirmed why this place is one of my Munich favorites. Even upon entering the elegant rooms on the upper floor, you immediately sense the special atmosphere that defines the charm of Kuffler's restaurants. As a long-time fan of Kuffler's establishments, I love the consistency and attention to detail that you find everywhere. The quality of the ingredients was outstanding throughout the entire menu – everything was fresh, perfectly balanced, and executed with impeccable skill. I particularly enjoyed the sophisticated presentation on the plates, which not only looked appetizing but also perfectly underscored the refined character of the menu. The first-class food was complemented by service that was both attentive and warm.
I am therefore delighted that in March 2026 all Mastercard cardholders will have the opportunity to discover this special place in conjunction with the exclusive menu. If you fancy an upscale dinner with what I consider to be one of Munich's most beautiful views, this is the perfect opportunity.
Please remember that advance reservations are mandatory to secure your table in the fine-dining area. The complete four-course menu, including paired wines and a digestif, is a package that will allow you to forget about everyday life for an evening. I wish you a delightful and unforgettable evening in the heart of Munich! As usual, you can find a Reel of my visit on my Instagram account (biancas_blog).
