Experience DISCO at the GOP Variety Theatre in Munich || Finally, the time had come again: My companion and I were off to the GOP Variety Theatre on Maximilianstrasse once more. This time, the reason for our visit was doubly wonderful. Besides the brand-new GOP stage show "DISCO," we also wanted to check out the equally new outdoor terrace.
Bathed in glorious sunshine, we enjoyed refreshing drinks and delicious snacks, anticipating the show. First, we sat comfortably on Maximilianstrasse, watching the vibrant activity of Munich's old town, and then immersed ourselves for about two hours in the dazzling world of the 70s: a truly successful combination of enjoyment, a summer evening, and entertainment.

Bell-bottoms, glitter, wild hairstyles and of course plenty of unforgettable music: With "DISCO", the GOP Variety Theatre Munich Bringing the spirit of the 70s back to the stage! The new show, running from July 17th to October 4th, 2026, blends the greatest sounds of the disco era with modern acrobatics, dance, humor, and numerous surprising show moments. The well-known hits aren't simply played, but reinterpreted live in a unique way. The talented singer Maja Matic and multi-instrumentalist Benni Kran provide the musical accompaniment. As the duo "As Manko," they truly manage to fill the theater with the sound of a full band. We were particularly impressed by the magnificent voice of the live singer, which contributes significantly to the show's special atmosphere.
The music will be accompanied by an international ensemble of artists who will entertain you with a wide variety of disciplines. Look forward to comedy, dance, acrobatics on the Chinese pole, roller skating, aerial straps, BMX, Cyr wheel, hula hoop, juggling, partner acrobatics, and diabolo, among other things.
The show, which lasts about two hours including intermission, is colorful, fast-paced, humorous, and full of impressive performances. Sitting still is quite difficult with all the energy and the infectious music. At least your foot will start tapping along pretty quickly and automatically—just wait.

Show and enjoyment: These are the gastronomic options available to you
As is customary with the GOP's changing stage shows, you can combine your visit to the GOP stage show "DISCO" with various dining options. One possibility is a two- or three-course meal served directly in the theater. The food will be served at your reserved seat, so you don't have to go back and forth between the restaurant and the theater. With the three-course meal, you'll enjoy the appetizer and main course before the show begins. Dessert will be served during the intermission. If you choose the two-course option, the appetizer is omitted. The main course is served before the show, and dessert is served during the intermission.
Alternatively, you can visit the in-house before the show. Theater-Restaurant „Leander“ Dining out – my companion and I have often chosen this option. A three-course set menu awaits you, where you can select from various appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The availability of this restaurant package depends on the specific performance date and will be displayed when you book your tickets.
You now also have the option of starting your GOP visit on the attractive outdoor terrace. The terrace is accessible independently of a show ticket and is therefore also ideal for a relaxing lunch break, a drink while strolling through the city, or a meeting in the heart of Munich.
The new terrace of the GOP on Maximilianstrasse
The new outdoor terrace is located directly in front of the GOP and stretches along the building's facade on Maximilianstrasse. Large parasols, comfortable seating, and the prime location make it a place you'll want to linger. At the same time, you can watch the lively activity on Maximilianstrasse. The terrace is situated in the heart of Munich's old town, yet it feels pleasantly relaxed. A bit of people-watching, soaking up the sun, and enjoying a bite to eat or a drink – sometimes that's all you need for a perfect little break.
The terrace is officially by Wednesday to Sunday from 12 pm to 10 pm Open. In case of bad weather, there is the option of using the Leander restaurant as an alternative.
The menu on the terrace changes regularly and is supplemented by daily specials. Please consider the dishes we ordered as examples of what you can expect on your visit. My companion opted for a Double Smash Burger with fries, while I ordered the vegan burger, also with fries. We also sampled various refreshing drinks – both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. For us, it was the perfect start to our evening at the theater: uncomplicated, delicious, and summery.

My conclusion on the GOP show „DISCO“
We thoroughly enjoyed the new stage show "DISCO". As is typical of GOP, there is plenty of impressive artistry, surprising performances, and numerous moments that make you wonder how the human body is even capable of such feats.
What particularly impressed us this time was the music. The fantastic live singer, the versatile multi-instrumentalist, and the talented, funny, and thoroughly entertaining performers made the stage show "DISCO" a wonderful journey into the past. Although I was born in the 80s and therefore, strictly speaking, only just missed the 70s, I felt transported right back to that dazzling decade during the performance. After two hours of disco fever, I certainly felt like I knew bell-bottoms, disco balls, and wild dance floors inside and out. 😉
The combination of live music, humor, acrobatics, and the colorful stage design worked perfectly for us. Another advantage is that the show requires no prior knowledge. You can simply sit back, marvel, laugh, and let yourself be carried away by the music.
I can highly recommend a visit to the GOP for the stage show "DISCO". I especially like combining it with a visit to the new GOP terrace beforehand. Ideally, choose a show that allows you enough time to enjoy a leisurely meal and a drink beforehand, and to get in the mood for the evening while admiring the Maxmonument.
GOP tickets, menu prices and booking
The stage show "DISCO" runs until October 4, 2026 at the GOP Variety Theatre in Munich. The performance lasts approximately two hours, including intermission. A regular show ticket costs 59 euros per person. The three-course show menu in the theater hall can be booked for 32 euros per person These can be added on. The show ticket and the three-course meal will therefore cost you a total of [price missing]. 91 euros per person. For selected earlier performances, the menu without a starter will be offered as a two-course meal. This costs extra. 25 euros. The total price, including the show ticket, is... 84 euros per person. The three-course set menu at Restaurant Leander costs extra on top of the show ticket. 42 euros. The total cost for the combination of show and restaurant menu is therefore € 101 euros per person.
Discounted tickets are also available. Children up to and including 14 years of age pay €22. Students and trainees up to and including 27 years of age receive the show ticket for €35.
