Recently, I was walking through Munich and got thirsty – thank goodness 😉 – so I went to the well-known kiosk by the Reichenbach Bridge to get a refreshing drink. There I discovered Kano organic iced tea; the bottle with its yellowish tea and appealing packaging practically jumped out at me. I decided to buy a bottle. Since then, I've treated myself to this delicious organic iced tea at various spots around Munich, and I'm always delighted by its wonderfully refreshing taste. I simply had to learn more about it. Because I'm not only impressed by the product itself, but also by the whole experience, I'd like to tell you a little more about Kano and their delicious tea.
The organic iced tea is made with fresh herbs straight from the field; all ingredients are organically grown and naturally relax the body both while drinking and afterwards. Thus, in addition to its benefits for the environment, Kano tea also offers a relaxing, refreshing, and positive effect on the body. Currently a well-kept secret in Munich's trendy restaurants, this organic iced tea, created by David Beger and Lennart Hofmaier, is gaining popularity.
For their Kano organic iced tea, the two brothers use Sencha green tea from Japan, with its slightly tart and floral flavor. They also add lemon balm and lemongrass, freshly picked as mentioned, as well as ginger, which, while not always easy to organize, significantly enhances the tea's overall taste. The blend is further complemented with hops, valerian, chamomile blossoms, and a delicate touch of sweetness derived from agave. It's worth noting that the drink contains no sugar and has a mere 15 kcal per 100 ml. David and Lennart set high standards with their commitment to ecological principles and a strong focus on food quality. Therefore, it was a given for them to use only the finest ingredients – namely, natural, and preferably fresh, raw materials. Consequently, they only use organically grown ingredients, brew traditionally, and bottle the tea in reusable containers.
I have to say, this tea tastes completely different than you might expect before the first sip. Green tea often has a rather "simple" flavor, but this delicious organic iced tea from Kano really surprised me: a hint of sweetness, incredibly refreshing, and you can actually taste the individual ingredients. On top of that, the fact that it's non-carbonated is a real plus for my personal taste.
In my opinion, what makes Kano organic iced tea so special is clearly the skillful combination of the memory of Japan's relaxed tea culture through the Sencha tea and the exceptional enjoyment of a unique – and healthy – refreshing drink. This makes Kano the perfect choice for any occasion: whether after work by the Isar River, recharging after sports, or simply enjoying with friends over a meal.
