What began as a short break from everyday life evolved into an unforgettable journey that we will certainly return to again.

A particular highlight was the suite we stayed in – ultra-modern with lots of wood and a private hot tub on the balcony. As in the entire hotel and its 27 rooms, modern design meets alpine charm, while the large glass front offers breathtaking views of the impressive Lechtal mountains. We especially loved the hot tub – we thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to relax in the hot water under the open sky.

The hotel's culinary focus is firmly on regional ingredients. In the morning, a varied breakfast buffet awaits you, featuring fresh smoothies, creamy porridge, yogurt muesli, ham, cheese, homemade jams, cakes, fragrant bread, and a wide array of herbs. The many small delicacies, enhanced, topped, or prepared with herbs gathered from the hotel's own garden, are particularly eye-catching. Freshly cooked egg dishes, also topped with fresh herbs from the garden, are also available. This ensures a diverse and varied start to your day, allowing you to choose between sweet or savory options.

The Lech Valley itself presents itself as a place of peace and unspoiled nature. Surrounded by majestic Alps and accompanied by the clear waters of the Lech River, we found exactly what we needed to unwind, recover, and relax: tranquility, fresh air, a slower pace of life, and the opportunity to leave everyday life behind. In the Lech Valley, you'll find countless opportunities for hiking and enjoying regional delicacies. The numerous hiking trails invite you to both leisurely strolls along the riverbank and more challenging tours into the mountains. Along the way, we discovered rustic alpine pastures and inns serving regional specialties.

A must-do during your stay in the Lechtal valley: a guided herb walk. My companion and I participated in one and were led to the Ölberg (Mount of Olives) with a wealth of herbal knowledge – an experience that truly captivated us. Step by step, we were accompanied by the "Lechtal herb witches" along the idyllic path below the Ölberg Chapel, where a small but delightful herb trail was created a few years ago. Along the way, we discovered an incredible variety of wild and cultivated herbs, as well as medicinal plants, which were explained to us in detail. We learned not only how beautiful these plants are to look at, but also about their healing properties and their many uses. The more we heard, the greater our interest in the world of herbs became – a true immersion into ancient knowledge, shared here with such passion.

As a final treat, a special surprise awaited us in the historic pavilion above the path: We were invited to sample fine herbal liqueurs and a flavorful herbal dip, which perfectly complemented the aromas and tastes of the hike. A must for cheese lovers: The Lechtal natural cheese dairy Sojer

I've loved cheese for as long as I can remember. So, visiting the local Lechtal natural cheese dairy Sojer in Steeg was a real highlight for me. They've been passionately producing cheese here for over 100 years, and the history of this family business truly impressed me. It all started in 1903 with a small cheese dairy built by the local farmers. Today, the fourth generation, Kurt and his son Philip, run the business – supported by the whole family. Even after a fire in the 1960s, the Sojers didn't give up, but rebuilt with hard work and courage. If you stop by to buy cheese or enjoy a snack, you'll immediately notice that they not only cherish tradition but also keep up with the times. They've continuously invested, renovated, and expanded – from the small milk bar to modern production facilities with large cheese cellars. Today the cheese dairy processes around 1.5 million liters of pure hay milk from 17 mountain farmers and five alpine pastures, producing fine specialties such as LechTaler Camembert, Brie, Roquefort or Alpengold.
