I recently visited Harlachinger Jagdschlössl again. Nothing special so far, as I'm there quite often, as you know. Nevertheless, there's something new to report. Please read on – ladies included – to the end, because there's good news for both male and female fans of Bavarian cuisine and beer about one of my favorite taverns in southern Munich. Harlachinger Jagdschlössl: Best beer from Hofbräu München

At the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl, you'll find not only excellent Bavarian cuisine but also the delicious Bavarian beer from Hofbräu München. The beer served at the Jagdschlössl comes from the brewery founded in 1589, which produces and distributes both top-fermented and bottom-fermented beers under the "Hofbräu München" brand. The State-owned Hofbräuhaus is particularly well-known for its beer and brewery, especially for serving it at the Oktoberfest (Oktoberfest) and in one of its largest beer tents. Of course, you can also find this same excellent beer in numerous restaurants throughout Munich, including the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl. But I didn't just order a beer and want to tell you about it; I want to share a truly unique experience in Munich, connected to the excellent beer from Hofbräu München.

At the Jagdschlössl (hunting lodge), you can experience something you can't do anywhere else in Munich: pour your own beer at the beer fountain. Yes, that's right. At two tables specially designed for the Harlaching Jagdschlössl, each with a copper-colored beer tap, you can pour your own half-liter of beer. It's incredibly easy and anyone can do it. You don't need any prior knowledge. The beer, dispensed from the tap at the beer fountain, is priced in 0.10-liter increments. At 77 cents for 100 ml, you pay 77 cents, which works out to about €3.85 for a half-liter.

The beer fountain is perfect for a relaxing evening for two, but also ideal for group events. Whether it's for a birthday, a bachelor/bachelorette party, or a corporate event, for anyone who enjoys Bavarian cuisine and beer (…so, for all Munich residents ;-)…), tapping your own beer at the Jagdschlössl beer fountain is a fun and creative alternative to the usual pub. You can comfortably stand with up to eight colleagues, friends, and others at your table with the beer fountain (meaning up to 16 people can sit at both tables), see your current beer level on the built-in digital display, and pour your own beer without having to constantly order more from the friendly waitstaff. Cool, right? Even better: The Harlachinger Jagdschlössl offers packages for groups of four or more. Each person receives 2 liters of beer from the beer fountain and the generous snack platter with Bavarian snacks and bread listed on the menu for €22.22. So if you want to sit together in a convivial group and enjoy Bavarian food, the beer fountain table, or rather the two tables, is the ideal meeting place for you.

Goodbye Hugo and Aperol Spritz! – The Beer Spritzer is here.

So ladies, since you surely want to join the party and a beer fountain might only put you in a moderately festive mood, I have something really great for you. Don't get me wrong – of course you can help yourselves to the beer fountain – alone or in a group – but if you're out with your girlfriends, for example, or just want to sit around chatting and enjoying a few drinks, I have THE new revolution for you. 😉 ...listen up: I'm not just a self-confessed Coke Zero addict, no, my beloved Hugo is also highly addictive. When I was recently at the Jagdschlössl – and I always order a Hugo in the evening along with my water – a new kind of Spritz caught my eye on the chalkboard on the wall: the beer Spritzer. Before I go into detail: Just try it! I'm not much of a beer drinker myself, but the new spritzers at Jagdschlössl are so good! The beer flavor isn't too intense, yet the finish has a clearly recognizable beer note. Plus, they're wonderfully fruity and refreshing. Thanks to their freshness and the beer, these spritzers are the perfect accompaniment to a meal, whether you're in winter or summer, or just want a drink on their own. Served in the same glass as the Aperol Spritz or the Hugo, the beer spritzers are available in various flavors for €5.20 each. Currently, they're offering the elderflower and beer spritzer in cherry, passion fruit, and raspberry. I tried two different flavors right away and probably wouldn't have said no to a third if I hadn't already been a little tipsy. 😉 Of course, real men are welcome to order this new trendy drink too. No one will give you a second glance. Similarly, in the above offer for groups of 4(+), an exception will be made if, on rare occasions, the girls prefer to order spritzers rather than beer.

My personal conclusion

…is obvious. Try it out! So, my dears…next time you're in the area, or even better…get in the car and drive there…then try the Beer Spritzer, grab your girlfriend, friends, colleagues, beer and (soon to be relevant again) football fans, and head to the Harlachinger Jagdschlössl to tap a beer at the beer fountain or simply sip a Beer Spritz in a cozy group. I'll come along – let me know. I'm quite sure of one thing: the Beer Spritzer is quietly and slowly (but surely) saying "Goodbye!" ("Hello!" is the operative word…) to the Hugo or the classic Aperol Spritz. 😉
