Streetwine 2017 – Weinviertel | A culinary delight in Munich! | Wine tasting event at the Tonhalle – It's finally that time again! I've already told you twice about the Streetwine event at the Munich Tonhalle. This popular event is happening again this year. A fantastic culinary experience awaits you with over 70 different winemakers from the Weinviertel, Austria's largest wine-growing region. More than 300 wines will be offered for you to taste and discover.

Streetwine 2017 – What can you expect?

This year's event takes place on Tuesday, March 7th, with doors opening at 4:00 PM. The focus will be on the 2016 vintage. Whether you prefer Weinviertel DAC, the region's signature Grüner Veltliner, light and delicious white wines, or robust reserve wines and multifaceted reds – Weinviertel Streetwine 2017 has something for everyone, and much more: The winemakers from the individual wineries will be on hand to answer your questions. Whether you're just browsing or a wine expert, a visit to the Tonhalle concert hall near the Ostbahnhof (East Train Station) is definitely worthwhile.

Registration, participation and tasting

It's not often you get the chance to meet 70 top winemakers from the Weinviertel region in person, along with their first-class wines, all in one place. What's more, you only have to pay €8 for entry if you buy an advance ticket from Culinarium Bavaricum. Otherwise, entry on site costs €15.Here (Register for free, get an advance ticket and save €7 on admission.) As mentioned, it starts at 4:00 PM and you can sample the various wines from the Weinviertel region until 8:00 PM.

Wine walks and tours at Streetwine 2017

A special treat is the supporting program this afternoon. Anyone wanting to delve deeper into the world of wine should definitely grab a spot on the popular WineWalks with the sommeliers. Here, the experts will take you directly to the winemaker's stand, and in addition to expert knowledge and excellent wine, you'll also gain valuable background information. My tip, based on my experience so far: you need to be quick with the WineWalks, as the number of participants is limited (a guaranteed spot is only available with an advance ticket purchase). Here Here you can find information on topics, times and registration.

If you prefer to explore on your own, it's best to pick up a free street wine map at the entrance. The map shows various tours to help you find your way around. With over 70 winemakers, it's easy to get overwhelmed – so simply choose a specific wine theme, select the corresponding tour, and you're ready to start your wine tasting.

If you are a restaurateur, service staff member, sommelier, specialist retailer, or journalist, you can drop by the Tonhalle exclusively from 2:00 PM. Registration for trade professionals is here.

I hope to see you there. Based on my experience over the last two years, I can wholeheartedly recommend coming along. Whether you're a passionate wine drinker, a wine expert, a novice, or simply interested in the subject, it's worth a visit every year, as in addition to the classic Grüner Veltliner, there are also other fantastic new wines on offer. Perhaps we'll see each other there?
