Europe’s Top 100+ Traditional Restaurants 2017 – Do you enjoy dining at the highest level, even outside of Munich, or even Germany? Then I have something for you! The European best-of list from "„Opinionated About Food“The OAD (Open Academy Award) honors top restaurants that have maintained a consistent style for more than 25 years. The expanded list includes a total of 200 restaurants. Top gourmet restaurants from 15 European countries honored. With 64 placements, France leads the country ranking; followed by Italy with 44 and Spain with 22. Also 13 gourmet addresses in Germany are in the running. Helmut Thieltges and his three-Michelin-starred restaurant at the Waldhotel Sonnora in Dreis come in fifth place, while the Schwarzwaldstube at the Traube Tonbach gourmet hotel in Baiersbronn takes tenth place this year. For the second time, OAD is publishing its "Top 100+ Classical and Heritage Restaurants" list. "This special ranking came about because I was repeatedly told that existing restaurant lists and guides don't sufficiently differentiate between culinary styles: restaurants that cultivate traditional, classic cuisine are often compared with those that aim to be innovative and trend-oriented – but these are two completely different categories. Our list of heritage restaurants takes this into account and honors those kitchens and chefs whose style has remained unchanged but at an outstanding level over the past 25 years. It is a tribute to classic cuisine in Europe," explains OAD publisher Steve Plotnicki, describing the intention behind the annual list. Anyone who enjoys dining at the highest level throughout Europe will certainly appreciate this list.
