Priceless Cities – The Platform
Before we get to the poultry, let's take a quick look at Priceless Cities. This is a program exclusively available to Mastercard cardholders in various cities, granting you access to unforgettable experiences. Sometimes it's about food, sometimes about adventures with loved ones, or even romantic weekends for two – the range of possibilities is vast. For me, the most enticing aspect is the multitude of exciting cooking events and culinary specials, as well as seasonal highlights for specific holidays. It's always worth checking back, especially if you're looking for something special, which brings us back to Thanksgiving at Restaurant Conti.
Thanksgiving – what's behind it?
Thanksgiving isn't really a truly German tradition. Here and there, one or two holiday customs trickle over to us, and a few years ago we started actively celebrating St. Patrick's Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the like. I liked it from the beginning—especially the latter—because it was another occasion to enjoy good food. 🙂 Thanksgiving, the harvest festival originating in the United States and Canada, is always celebrated by Americans on the fourth Thursday of November. Even though European customs and rituals for these festivities differ significantly from those of the Americans, Thanksgiving is about the same thing worldwide: sitting together with loved ones, eating well and abundantly—of course, a turkey—and being grateful for it, or rather, becoming consciously aware of it once again. Incidentally, the German Thanksgiving celebration took place on October 7, 2018. With this exciting event from Priceless Cities, you now have the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving for the first time, complete with an authentic and very traditional menu in an inviting atmosphere. So, what's on the menu?
Thanksgiving at Restaurant Conti: The 3-course menu
The evening begins after a welcome drink (which is included) with a "Pumpkin Cheesepie" and a "Pumpkin Soup." After a short break, chef Jürgen Weingarten serves the main course: "Whole turkey – stuffed with breadcrumbs and apple. Served with yams, collard greens, black-eyed beans with and without bacon, grilled corn, roasted bread with rosemary and tomatoes, cranberry chutney and gravy." So, a whole turkey stuffed with breadcrumbs and apple; served with yams, collard greens, black-eyed beans – with or without bacon – as well as grilled corn, toasted bread with rosemary and tomatoes or cranberry chutney, and a delicious jus. Incidentally, if you come in a group of six (or more), you'll get your own turkey served at your table. Amazing, right? That's rather difficult to find in Munich, even for such a festive occasion. Once the turkey is devoured, the evening concludes with dessert: a pecan pumpkin pie with cream. Drinks ordered that evening will be charged à la carte, just as if you were dining normally.
Participate yourself
If you are a Mastercard holder (or would like to become one), you can reserve a table online for yourself and your loved ones. If you're celebrating with a larger group (six or more people), you're guaranteed your own "Private Turkey"—your own turkey in the center of the table. For more information and to make a reservation (and perhaps for further inspiration), it's best to check out the website directly. Website from Mastercard Priceless Cities is over. Participation is exclusive. for Mastercard cardholders at 65 euros per person For the evening, and I'm sure you, or rather us – I'll be there too, but don't worry, your turkey will still be your turkey 😉 – are in for a wonderful Thanksgiving evening. Before we can feast properly, however, you need to... Advance booking is essential., because without these, you cannot participate in the event.
