My absolute favorites: The new Irrésistible in the „Limited Edition“

Neuhaus: „Christmas assortment 2018“ The city is becoming more and more Christmassy – how lovely! Especially when you look into the lovingly decorated shop windows of the boutiques, stores, and department stores. Everything is adorned with Christmas decorations, beautifully adorned, and delights the senses. I find it particularly appealing when it comes to food, and my mouth waters just looking at the products or the overflowing counters. One place where I've had this experience for years is Neuhaus on Theatinerstrasse. Especially during the current Advent season, this high-quality chocolate shop, with its finest Belgian chocolate, always offers incredibly exquisite delicacies. For me, it's one of the best spots for top-quality chocolates. The Neuhaus Christmas collection for 2018 has recently become available, and I want to share it with you.

The Neuhaus Christmas range 2018

Just like last year (here (You can read the article about the Neuhaus Christmas range 2017 here), and it will be especially delicious again this Christmas season. One product or Christmas item that particularly impressed me last year was – and still is this year – the „Premium box“, with 62 different Neuhaus chocolates. I admit, the box didn't last long with me last year, and this year too, with a facelift and consequently an even more stylish design, the premium box (for 85 euros) is one of my seasonal favorites.

I also find the „Christmas Tree Box“ In the same festive red, complete with gold embellishments, the box contains 27 different classic Neuhaus pralines, arranged in the shape of a Christmas tree. Last year, my first choice after opening it was the "Manon Choco Vanille" praline with Madagascan vanilla and pecan mousse. Right after the Irrésistibles "Désir" and "Séduction"—that is, brittle with dark chocolate ganache from Peru and brittle with raspberry buttercream, respectively—I happily reached for the "Cœur Praliné" with hazelnut and almond nougat. The "Christmas Tree Box" is sure to be perfect for any sweet tooth who likes to place a colorful assortment of all the Neuhaus classics, presented in a festive way, on their holiday table.

For true truffle fans, the Truffle boxes „"Truffle's Winter"“ They are a true delight. Inside are the finest, handmade Neuhaus truffles, filled with buttercream and coated in a thin layer of dark chocolate. My tip: Definitely try them if you love truffles or want to give them as a gift to someone you trust to have a certain expertise when it comes to truffle and chocolate quality. (A special recommendation, but also highly recommended: The...) „"Truffle Gift Box"“ from Neuhaus, which I also had the pleasure of experiencing.

Those who read my articles regularly won't be surprised: My absolute favorite in the Neuhaus Christmas range for 2018 – without a doubt, the Winter Irrésistibles „LIMITED EDITION“ Featuring 16 individual Irrésistibles pralines in three new limited-edition winter varieties. With "Tiramisu," "Apple Strudel," and "Cheesecake," they've hit the nail on the head in my opinion (in other words: they all taste absolutely amazing! ;-)). These were created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the "Caprice," and the Neuhaus master chocolatiers have crafted a new culinary experience for this limited edition. The three new varieties impress not only with their newly created texture but also with exciting flavor combinations. "Apple Strudel" boasts a core of creamy milk ganache enriched with apple and raisins, enveloped in handmade brittle and coated in Belgian milk chocolate. Finished with a subtle shimmer of cinnamon cookies. "Tiramisu" presents itself as an irresistible combination of tiramisu and milk chocolate ganache in a handmade coffee brittle. All covered in a layer of intensely rich Belgian dark chocolate and sprinkled with pastry pieces. My favorite in this box is the Irrésistible "Cheesecake" praline, a creamy cheesecake encased in a white chocolate cheesecake ganache, topped with crisp chocolate brittle and encased in smooth, melt-in-your-mouth white chocolate. It's garnished with fruity raspberry pieces, the perfect finishing touch.

Something beautiful to look at again, and the ideal Christmas gift. „Christmas Crackers“ Available in red and green, packaged in a glittering, festive gift box (the smaller version costs €11). The larger (red) box contains 12 exquisite alcohol-free pralines in milk, dark, and white chocolate; the green Christmas tree box contains eight. Individually wrapped, the selection begins with milk chocolate with butter biscuits from Brittany; milk chocolate with Montélimar nougat; dark chocolate with salted caramel from Isigny; dark chocolate with ganache and cocoa nibs; dark chocolate with praline and caramelized hazelnut; a block of pure gianduja; milk chocolate with almond and hazelnut praline; and milk chocolate with praline and caramelized hazelnut pieces. Sounds good, doesn't it?

Of course, what should not be missing are the also attractively designed items. Neuhaus Advent Calendar. These are available again this year in two different sizes, or additionally as „"Winter Wonderland 3D Advent Calendar"“ In an attractive Neuhaus red. Since I'd already indulged quite a bit on my shopping spree, I opted for the small version this year – as always, quite modest when it comes to chocolate 😉 – for €29. Those who buy it will find 24 soft-filled chocolates and fun little figures. Actually, the advent calendar I chose is meant for Neuhaus's younger customers, i.e., the kids – but I bought one for myself anyway. 😉 A practical feature: the advent calendar can be stood upright using the stand, so you can place this little gem on your nightstand, for example, and see chocolates waiting for you in the morning – could there be a happier way to wake up?

…and what else is there?

The Neuhaus Christmas range for 2018 includes many more highlights. From the classics to the aforementioned "Limited Editions" in the form of the new Irrésistibles, there's sure to be something for every praline and chocolate lover. My heart leaps with joy every time I visit their shop on Theatinerstrasse. One thing the entire range has in common is the elaborate, meticulously detailed, and harmonious packaging design typical of Neuhaus. I admit, it wasn't easy for me to choose specific products this year either, because I always find something I like at Neuhaus, and I've never disliked anything there. (Here's a hot tip from me: pick up a box of Elisenlebkuchen.) I can also highly recommend visiting in person, even though the Neuhaus online shop offers the complete range and displays the prices. Browsing, getting advice, and sampling the chocolates is simply more enjoyable at the Neuhaus boutique. Making a decision is also easier when you can compare the different collections and handle them in their packaged form. Now all that's left for me to do is wish you a wonderful Advent season and bring my chocolates home to the sofa. With that in mind: Merry Christmas and a delicious holiday season!.
