FOOD & LIFE trade fair 2021 awards the NEWCOMER AWARD to food start-ups for the first time | You can't imagine how happy I am that Munich's most popular food and gourmet fair, the FOOD & LIFE Munich trade fair, is finally taking place again this year after a year's 'forced break' – from December 1st to 5th, 2021 at the Munich Trade Fair Center. It's not only considered Germany's best-known and largest meeting place for foodies and exhibitors, but also one of the most important stops on the culinary scene. for food start-ups to make their own product better known, to get to know their target group directly on site and to get a feel for how their start-up product is received.

This year, as a true highlight of the FOOD & LIFE trade fair, the NEWCOMER AWARD 2021 in the "FOOD.Start.ups" category will be awarded for the first time. The start-up that impresses the most visitors will take home the FOOD & LIFE NEWCOMER AWARD and win some fantastic prizes.

I go to the FOOD & LIFE trade fair every year. Do you?

Anyone who follows the market knows that the number of interesting food startups is growing almost daily. More and more creative people are venturing into their own startups, bringing their innovative ideas to the public and sharing them with others. The resulting products are as imaginative and diverse as the founders themselves. Baking mixes for children without refined sugar, plant-based sausage in eight different varieties, homemade date pralines with various fillings, freeze-dried fruit made from 'rescued' fruit, or even a rosé-colored gin with fruity ingredients from fresh berries are just a few of the creations that you, as a visitor, will discover this year at the FOOD & LIFE trade fair in the "FOOD.Start.ups" area. And for the first time ever, all these exhibiting startups will have the chance to win a fantastic NEWCOMER AWARD.

For the first time at the FOOD & LIFE trade fair: The NEWCOMER AWARD for FOOD start-ups

FOOD & LIFE, together with its cooperation partner „StartinFOOD“We have launched the NEWCOMER AWARD 2021. The award will be presented on Saturday, December 4th, 2021, and you, the trade fair visitors, can vote for your favorite start-up for the first time. By participating, you not only promote your favorite, but you can even win one of ten sample packages yourself.”.

Here's how it works! – Buy trade fair tickets online, Stroll through the "FOOD.Start.ups" area and get to know the startups. You can then vote all day afterward using a ballot (Wednesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday until 11:30 a.m.). The startup that impresses the visitors the most overall will be crowned the winner of the very first NEWCOMER AWARD in the history of the FOOD & LIFE trade fair in Munich. Awesome, right? The winner will be announced among all the startup exhibitors on the FOOD & LIFE trade fair's cooking stage on Saturday, December 4, 2021. I'll be there too, of course, and I'm really looking forward to it!

Why start-ups should still register for FOOD & LIFE now

Firstly, because being there in person is definitely worthwhile (networking, product placement, target group analysis, tastings, on-site sales, etc.), and secondly, because as a participating startup and potential winner of the brand-new NEWCOMER AWARD, you can win some truly fantastic prizes. Specifically, the winning startup will receive a media package worth €3,000 from the trade fair's media partner, egoFM, as well as coaching from the food startup incubator Weihenstephan and StartinFOOD. Beyond that, the FOOD & LIFE trade fair offers both exhibitors and visitors a comprehensive overview of just how creative, innovative, and diverse the food scene is becoming.

For me, the FOOD & LIFE trade fair is an absolute must on each of its five days. I've also had the pleasure of meeting Claudia Weidner, the fair's director, and she's delighted that the NEWCOMER AWARD and FOOD & LIFE 2021 (once again) offer newcomers to the industry a platform where startups can present their products to a broad audience and showcase them effectively. The NEWCOMER AWARD makes the fair even more attractive for startups and demonstrates just how important new food startups are to the market.

My tip for you as a mere visitor: To get a good impression of the diversity and wealth of ideas from the food start-ups, you should definitely stroll through the "FOOD.Start-ups" area with plenty of curiosity and a thirst for new experiences, and chat with the founders. Don't forget to vote for your favorite!
