GOP's new stage show "BIG LOVE" – a must-see for everyone who loves to laugh! || The new stage show from the GOP Variety Theatre in Munich has been running since mid-March and promises multifaceted entertainment, plenty of glamour, brilliant live vocals, and unforgettable fun. Full of variety, wit, and charm, the versatile and transformative Chris Kolonko guides the audience through the show in his various roles, accompanied by talented artists and the powerful soul queen Bridget Fogle.

Together with my companion, I had the pleasure of seeing the new two-hour show and enjoyed a wonderful and unforgettable evening – complete with show drinks created especially for "BIG LOVE" and a multi-course meal – filled with laughter and wow moments. You too have the opportunity to experience "BIG LOVE" at the GOP Munich until May 12, 2024 – a true must for fans of humorous and breathtaking entertainment.

„BIG LOVE“ – the new stage show at the GOP Variety Theatre Munich

You know I never miss one of the GOP stage shows, which are always different, new, and varied. So, my next visit to the Munich variety theater for the new stage show "BIG LOVE" was already scheduled for March, and I was really looking forward to it – as I now know after my visit, more than justified.

What is "BIG LOVE" about, and why did my companion and I find the new GOP show so particularly captivating? – It's all about love, of course, in the form of breathtaking acrobatics, highly entertaining comedy, and phenomenal live vocals. From the very first minute of the show, there's plenty to laugh about, thanks to entertainer Chris Kolonko and his numerous characters and transformations as a showgirl, a bundle of energy, a diva, or simply a jack-of-all-trades. With wit, charm, singing, and eloquence, Chris guides you through the show, with various artists performing their acrobatic and musical masterpieces between his acts.

For example, the powerful soul queen Bridget Fogle from New York fascinates with her powerful voice and extensive musical repertoire, and a first-class artistic ensemble from all over the world shows top performances in the air and on the stage, sometimes amusing, sometimes fast-paced, or – fitting the show title – romantic.

The show is even more enjoyable with a pre-booked menu in the theater. You can choose between two or three courses (for €21 or €27); the two-course menu omits the starter. The "BIG LOVE" three-course menu begins with tomato soup with burratina and basil-lemon pesto, followed by the main course. If you choose the meat option, you'll have saltimbocca of veal loin with gnocchi, zucchini, bell peppers, and a Parmesan crisp. Alternatively, you can order a vegetarian main course featuring baked zucchini with sauce vierge, porcini mushrooms, and gnocchi. During the intermission of "BIG LOVE," the menu's dessert is served—a delicious crème brûlée, which pairs perfectly with the recommended cocktails and aperitifs.

I'd also like to mention the extensive selection of refreshing aperitifs, which you can order both in advance in the foyer of the variety theater and during the show. Perfect for spring, there are sparkling and fruity creations – also available without alcohol. On offer are aperitifs with rhubarb ("Rhubarb Spritz" with gin, rhubarb/lemon juice, elderflower syrup, and tonic water), two different creations with Malfy Gin ("Malfy Aperitivo Rosa" and "Malfy Aperitivo Limone"), and two different drinks with bergamot – the "Italicus Lemon Spritz" with Italicus Rosolio bergamot liqueur, bitters, lemon, and grappa, and the "Italicus Spritz" with Italicus Rosolio bergamot liqueur, soda, lemon, and Prosecco. My favorite was the "Italicus Lemon Spritz" – definitely try it! Those who prefer to abstain from alcohol can choose the "Crodino Spritz" with passion fruit, bitter lemon, blackcurrant syrup and Crodino.

The variety show also offers additional cocktail recommendations. For "BIG LOVE," these include an "Espresso Martini," a "GOP Martini," a "White Basil" (also available without alcohol), and the "Cinderella" cocktail (also available without alcohol) with coconut and grenadine syrup, orange and pineapple juice. A selection of wines, beers, and other beverages is also available.

Conclusion, tickets and table

The show was simply amazing! My companion and I thoroughly enjoyed the stage show "BIG LOVE," which runs at the GOP until mid-May 2024. As mentioned, there was plenty to tickle our funny bones from the very first minute, lots of entertainment, and plenty to marvel at. Both we and our table neighbors, who had traveled all the way from South Tyrol for the show, enjoyed it from beginning to end; the atmosphere in the variety theater was incredibly lively and positive. We especially loved the perfect blend of acrobatics, singing, enjoyment, and humor – laughter is simply the best, isn't it?

I highly recommend you don't miss "BIG LOVE". Come hungry and enjoy the set menu on site, and definitely have a few drinks too – it'll be even more fun that way. 😉

Are you coming by car? – The best place to park is in the Hofbräuhaus parking garage. Alternatively, you can take subway lines 4 and 5 (Lehel stop) or tram lines 16, 19, and 21 (Maxmonument stop) to the GOP Variety Theatre. And feel free to dress up; the GOP has the perfect setting for it.
