Tresznjewski is a restaurant in Munich's Maxvorstadt district, not far from the Pinakotheken art museums, with a cozy ambiance and friendly atmosphere. I went there once with a friend just for wine and once for dinner.
Tresznjewski is a very long, narrow restaurant with parquet flooring, dark wood furniture, yellow walls, illuminated statues, and a variety of decorative elements. Its most striking feature is a bar that runs almost its entire length, subtly lit and elaborately clad in gold patterns. Overall, the atmosphere is very cozy thanks to the individual warm light sources and the harmonious design.
As we entered Tresznjewski, we were immediately greeted by a friendly server and were able to choose our own table – it wasn't particularly crowded, and there were plenty of seats to choose from. Another waitress cleaned the table for us, and we took a seat at one of the dark, candlelit tables along the bar. There's also a separate room to the right of the bar/dining area with about 15-18 additional tables for dining – but we sat in the front section. The menus were already at our table, and another one was handed to us after we were seated.
The Menu The menu is relatively manageable and divided into an evening menu and a regular menu. These offer a variety of different dishes and a diverse mix: for example... Organic potato cream soup, Tom Kha Gai – coconut milk soup with chicken breast and vegetables, chef's salad, Caesar salad, Beetroot risotto, ciabatta burger, ravioli, tagliatelle with spinach, Atlantic mussels, French sandwich, pike-perch or sea bream fillet, mango chicken curry, penne pesto, apple/apricot/quark strudel, Kaiserschmarrn, panna cotta, chocolate cake, etc.
The food tastes very good, both the chosen fish (duo of fish – sea bream and char fillet – with almond broccoli, polenta and dip) for 15.80 euros, and the selected club sandwich. with grilled chicken breast, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce and cocktail sauce and French fries For €11.50, the food was very tasty and the portion size was adequate, but the price was still too high. Before the main courses arrived, we received a small plate of chopped and marinated tomatoes and onions on baguette as a complimentary appetizer. Interestingly, we each received different plates for this – I got a small plate for appetizers, while my companion got a saucer for espresso cups. 😉 The main courses arrived quickly. The wine we ordered (Lugana "Wighel" DOC 2011 – 0.2l) was served promptly after we ordered it and, at €7.50 per glass, was also quite expensive – although delicious. (Try it!)
For two main courses and two glasses of wine, we paid €46 including tip – which, as mentioned, isn't really something to complain about, as the food was delicious, the staff very friendly and attentive, and the restaurant's ambiance was also appealing – but it's not exactly cheap. Tresznjewski is open from 11:00 AM to midnight, and on Fridays and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 1:45 AM! Card payments are accepted.
If you're looking for a cozy atmosphere for dinner, or perhaps just want to enjoy a delicious white wine, then Tresznjewski is the place for you. Great ambiance, friendly service, good food, and reasonably priced, if a little overpriced. Have fun – give it a try. With the right company, it's sure to be a great evening.
I'll be back: Yes, absolutely. There's nothing wrong with it – except that the prices are a bit too high.
