Ruinart | Upside Down Champagne Dinner | Charles Hotel Attention all gift-seekers and connoisseurs of good taste! Today I'd like to introduce you to something very special. Partly as a preview, partly as a recommendation, since I'm fortunate enough to be one of the few who have already experienced and enjoyed it personally: The Ruinart „Upside Down“ Champagne Dinner in the The Charles Hotel, Munich.

The Charles Hotel – in case you only know it by name or from passing by – is a five-star luxury hotel built in 2007 with interesting architecture, located near the Alte Pinakothek and the Lenbachhaus. Besides offering top-class service, the hotel also boasts exquisite cuisine in a chic yet cozy atmosphere. Restaurant „Davvero“ (I'll tell you more about this in a separate, detailed article soon.) Here, the focus is on the fantastic Upside Down Dinner, which, as mentioned, I was able to test in advance and which I therefore highly recommend – especially now with the Christmas season approaching.

Before I go into detail about the champagnes and courses, a few more things. Facts about the dinner evening First off: The Upside Down Dinner is unusual, surprising, and exclusive all at once. But what makes it so special? The new Executive Chef of the Charles Hotel Michael Hüsken, Chef Ruinart, who has already earned two Michelin stars in his career, has created a menu that will turn your senses upside down (a true "Upside Down" experience). The menu itself holds a very special surprise (I won't spoil it for you) and immediately promises a wonderful evening. The Upside Down Dinner was created by the Charles Hotel to provide the perfect setting for a successful Christmas party. Up to 14 people can be seated at the elegantly set table, complete with plenty of glassware and subtle decorations. The price per person is approximately [price missing in original text]. 5-course menu including champagne and sommelier expertise at 199€. Sure – it's not something you do every week, but it's the ideal gift, the perfect idea for small Christmas parties, or even romantic dates for two. The Upside Down Dinners take place on three Saturdays, namely the November 14, dem November 28 and the December 12, It takes place every two weeks. The event is also available daily in November and December for Christmas parties of eight or more people. It starts at each day at 7:00 PM And if I've made you even more interested, you can (and should, due to limited space) reserve immediately.

So. Now Most importantly: food and drink, or rather, menu and champagne.. 🙂 The exclusive menu is accompanied with each course by a different high-quality champagne from the House of Ruinart, perfectly matched to the dishes served. A brief note on this: The "Maison Ruinart" was 1729 as the first champagne house Founded by the monk Dom Thierry Ruinart, who shares the same name, Ruinart is now considered the premier champagne producer. After the first sip of Ruinart Blanc de Blancs (served with the Petit Four), even those with little or no champagne experience should realize that this is something special. only top-class sparkling wines offered. Ruinart Blanc de Blancs It is considered the epitome of the Ruinart taste, and the grapes come predominantly from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims. It is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, and notes of citrus and exotic fruits like pineapple and passion fruit dominate the flavor, followed by floral aromas, peach, and red peppercorn. At the same time, the Ruinart Blanc de Blancs was my personal favorite of the evening. How do I know? Because with each course, a sommelier from the Ruinart estate, who was also present, recommended the wines. detailed information about each champagne will be provided. So you're not just sitting there sipping a glass here and there – no, here you'll naturally also be told what you're drinking, what aromas and fragrances to expect, what the champagne pairs well with (of course, with each course), and a little bit about... History of Champagne. Of course, you're welcome to ask questions. Therefore, I won't tell you the story behind every champagne – instead, I'll let you experience this joy for yourselves during the meal.

Gang II:  Ice cream | Mousse | Terrine | Crème brûlée. As with the first course, the food was exceptionally attractively presented and tasted delicious. Of course, all guests were served simultaneously, and the The head chef explains personally at the table, which is on the plates and is eaten with the champagne. As third gear There was a cappuccino soup with ox strudel. Both courses were accompanied by a „R“ de Ruinart (Chardonnay 40%, Pinot Noir between 50 and 55% and Pinot Meunier 5 to 10%) served. A Champagne with pear and dried fruit aromas and other flavor nuances that you can best discover for yourself. Gang IV Surprised with turbot | parsnip | truffle | mille-feuille, accompanied by Dom Ruinart 2004. This course was definitely my absolute favorite. Excellent, and combined with subtle hints of chestnut, coconut, and fresh bread, it was a delight for the tongue and palate. Last but not least, as I like to say: Gear number VI and hot on the heels of the turbot in my personal ranking: The „vegetable garden“ accompanied by a Ruinart Rosé. Wonderful. I'm a big rosé fan myself. Combined with the wafer-thin vegetable slices, the potato mousse, the baby carrots, and so on, it's simply brilliant. Anyone who's been paying attention will surely have noticed the „"reverse order" of the courses All the Upside Down stuff caught my eye. As mentioned: My senses were turned upside down. 🙂

The Upside Down Dinner was a perfect example for me to confirm once again: Quality over quantity. We were all satisfied, and our thirst was quenched, too, and that was thanks to... finest ingredients, dishes and exquisite champagne.Pleasant table conversations arise quite naturally, and people often philosophize about the delicious menu combinations. relaxed and informal atmosphere A unique atmosphere develops, and every guest has fun. Whether in a group or as a couple – in my opinion, the Upside Down Dinner is worth a visit and an investment, even if only for the overall experience. Because even that The atmosphere is great.. Not only because of the hotel, through which you will be guided to the Private Dining Room, You will be seated in a separate room, undisturbed by other guests of the public restaurant. The entire room is decorated in white, with a partially mirrored table adorned to match the evening's theme. for up to 14 people. Not too big and ideal for a pleasant evening.

My personal conclusion In this case, it's quite simple: Even though one rarely orders champagne "just because" with a meal (despite Munich's reputation), it's all the more a true delight to be served an entire menu perfectly paired with the finest champagne. With each course, you can tell how much passion and expertise went into selecting the combinations that are harmonious and will delight the guest. And that's precisely the point: Every single champagne was an ideal match for the course served. The sommelier's extensive expertise, the great atmosphere, the perfect atmosphere and of course that excellent food They made my Upside Down Dinner a perfect evening. Just so you know: I went there completely clueless about what to expect and what an "Upside Down Dinner" was all about, so I knew considerably less than you do now 😉 That made me all the more thrilled with how well the whole evening went. You know – I only recommend things I'm truly convinced of. So: save up, surprise your boyfriend/girlfriend, or plan your Christmas party with colleagues and head to The Charles Hotel, Munich for an Upside Down Dinner.

I'll be back: Of course I would. But I don't want to take your seats. 🙂
