Urban Soup | Fresh soups | Ordered from Deliveroo – Something I admittedly haven't written much about until now, but which I'm a big fan of, is soup. Especially now in the cold winter months, a warm soup is the perfect way to warm up and is also very filling. Urban Soup: The restaurant's selection
For my first test, I opted for a hot soup. One restaurant that delivers to my postal code area and is listed on Deliveroo is the relatively new concept store "Urban Soup." Urban Soup offers delicious, freshly made soups in jars. Currently, you can choose from six different varieties via Deliveroo – including vegetarian and one vegan option. Creations like the vegetarian version…„Olivia's Healthy Tomato, for example, is made from Tomatoes, sliced olives, feta cheese and fresh herbs mixed together; also vegetarian, the „Creamy Coconut Carrot Soup“ with carrot, coconut, ginger, and pine nuts, which I ordered. The third and last completely vegan soup would be the „Himalayan Dhal – Soup with Lentils, bell peppers, cumin, and fennel. The vegetarian soups are priced at €6.90, which I think is quite reasonable for 550 ml each. Those who prefer sausage (one with chorizo, one with Vienna sausage) or scampi in their soup have three other soups to choose from. These cost two euros more each, so €8.90 per glass.
Creamy Coconut Carrot Soup
While I opted for the aforementioned version with carrot, coconut, ginger and pine nuts, my companion, or in this case rather „my dining partner“, chose the „"The Shiny Shrimp" Soup with coconut and chili shrimp. Regarding the soups, it should be noted that Urban Soup makes them to be eaten or drunk from a glass. What you see in the photo – the small soup bowls – isn't exactly "standard" in that sense. Personally, I just don't like eating from a glass, and when I'm "drinking soup," I feel like I'm not really having dinner, but rather just drinking something filling. 🙂 Of course, you can do it however you like; Urban Soup recommends eating from a glass.
The soups from Urban Soup are delicious. While I didn't really taste the coconut in the "Creamy Coconut Carrot Soup," I've often had this experience: when a soup combines coconut and other ingredients, you often only taste the second component. However, there were plenty of seeds in the soup, and the carrot flavor was definitely noticeable. My dining companion also really enjoyed the "The Shiny Shrimp," as it had the expected mild spiciness. The bread we ordered with it—four small rolls for a total of €3—was also very fresh and tasty. For me, bread is essential with soup. The soups are very filling, and with the bread, you'll definitely feel satisfied for a while afterward. Urban Soup also offers a variety of non-alcoholic drinks and different ice cream flavors for dessert. One slight drawback, in my opinion, is that Urban Soup doesn't currently indicate which soup is in each glass. I inquired: Urban Soup is still in its early stages and there's some room for improvement. One issue is the labeling, specifically how the soups are labeled. It becomes problematic when five people order soup and they all end up with, say, "yellow soup" in their glasses. According to Urban Soup, they are currently working on this.

Before I devoured the soup, a few words about the ordering process. Ordering on Deliveroo is incredibly easy: I browsed through the restaurants listed on the Deliveroo website, based on my pre-entered postcode area, and selected one. Depending on your location, i.e., the postcode you enter, you'll be presented with a list of restaurants to choose from. After browsing the menus, I decided on Urban Soup. Once I'd selected my food – in my case, two soups and two different types of bread rolls – all I had to do was submit my order, and Deliveroo immediately provided an estimated delivery time. (More on this in the article linked above). Sure enough, right on time, the doorbell rang, and I was able to receive my food from a friendly Deliveroo driver. When ordering with Deliveroo, you pay a flat fee of €2.50 for delivery and can – optionally, of course – give the driver a tip online, which saves you the hassle of searching for change at the door.

My personal conclusion: I'm truly impressed with how smoothly the service worked. We paid €18.80 for the two soups and bread rolls, €2.50 for delivery, and of course, added a small online tip. The soups were still nice and warm – thanks in no small part to Deliveroo – and we didn't even need to reheat them, despite driving through the freezing cold of Munich's city center. Both Urban Soup and Deliveroo get a definite thumbs up from me, and I'm already looking forward to my next review. So, if you're craving soup but definitely don't feel like going out into the snow, Urban Soup and Deliveroo are the perfect solution.

The soups look and sound delicious. I'd seen these jars somewhere before, but quickly clicked away and then of course couldn't find them again.
Does the packaging say how long the soup will keep, meaning can it still be eaten the next day or the day after? That would make sense if you order a few extra jars at once….
