Wine tasting Burgenland TonHalle | „Burgenland at its Best!“ – It's almost time – Burgenland is once again visiting Munich. Specifically, with a comprehensive event on October 20, 2016 at the... Munich TonHalle at the East Station. Seventy Austrian winemakers will be presenting over 300 wines from Burgenland. I'm really looking forward to it and want to tell you about it beforehand and encourage you to come along. So, what exactly can you expect as a guest?

Burgenland at its Best – The 2015 vintage

„"Burgenland at its Best" is the motto, and it's precisely about the very "best" wines. More specifically, about a truly exceptional vintage! "Why is this so special and even worth its own event?" you might ask. Because this vintage was indeed one of the best for winemaking in the last 35 years, producing some truly exquisite wines. For example, connoisseurs are already certain that, due to the exceptional aging potential, it will pay off to store enough bottles of the 2015 vintage and follow the wines' development over several years/decades. So, this time you can expect a particularly large selection of excellent wines on site. If you're looking for something new or, for example, want to delight true wine lovers, this event is an absolute must.

The program and wine selection

There's plenty to discover at the event. The highlight is undoubtedly the 70 different winemakers with their over 300 different wines in the hall. You can taste, ask questions, compare, and of course, buy. The event is the ideal opportunity to get to know new wines and also gain valuable expertise. Don't worry about a stuffy atmosphere or anything that might make you feel uncomfortable. Even if you're not very familiar with wine, you're welcome here. Feel free to ask the winemakers all your questions about the individual wines and taste as many different wines as you like – with personalized advice, of course. This makes the selection easier, and you'll find the perfect wine for you.

„Wine to Go“

What's behind "Wine to Go"?

For those unfamiliar with wine or who simply want to keep track of everything, look out for the "Wine to Go" promotion. These small cards, available at each winery, recommend the best "starter wine" from each producer. Even as a newcomer, you'll find this helpful guide, allowing you to begin your tasting tour with a clear overview. Questions like "Where do I even begin?" and "What do I actually like?" are easily answered. Simply pick a Wine to Go card, follow the recommendation, and start tasting.

Competition, registration and key facts

The event starts for the public from 4:00 PM and goes until 8:00 PM. If you happen to be passing by, I highly recommend you... to register online in advance. This way you save the €15 entrance fee at the door and also participate in the prize draw. Anyone who registers in advance (and then actually shows up, of course) not only saves money but is automatically entered into the prize draw on site.„BIG BOTTLES FOR BIG FUN“That’s the idea. Forty magnum bottles of wine from the best winemakers in Burgenland will be given away. Cool, right? The first 20 red wine magnums will be drawn on stage at 6:00 PM, the other 20 bottles an hour later. So you can not only look forward to a diverse tasting, but also hope that you’ll be one of the 40 winners there. I’ve already registered. 😉
