Wine tasting at TonHalle Burgenland | „Burgenland at its Best!“ It's that time again! On October 19, 2017, the exciting event returns for the second time to the TonHalle in Munich's Ostbahnhof (East Train Station), where 75 winemakers will present fantastic wines from Burgenland. While last year's focus was on the 2015 vintage, this year's event will feature exciting 2016 wines. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can taste around 400 wines, discover new ones, and even win prizes.

Burgenland at its Best – This is what awaits you

What can you expect as a visitor to "Burgenland at its Best"? 75 winemakers, 400 wines – great reds, renowned sweet wines, and fantastic white wines – for tasting, and a wealth of concentrated wine knowledge. This year, there's also a special "zone" with various themed tables dedicated to Burgenland wines. There, you'll find selected wines from the four specific appellations – Neusiedlersee DAC, Leithaberg DAC, Mittelburgenland DAC, and Eisenberg DAC – which you can taste and explore on your own at the tables.

For those unfamiliar with Burgenland, its wine is a perfect introduction. Located southeast of Vienna, Burgenland nestles around Lake Neusiedl. Known as Austria's "Land of Diversity" when it comes to wine, it boasts a diverse range of wines, from fresh and fruity options to rich, mineral whites and complex reds with excellent aging potential. The Pannonian climate, along with Lake Neusiedl, also fosters the production of exceptional sweet wines, which you can sample at TonHalle. And if you prefer something sparkling, you'll find a selection of fine wines from the Burgenland region available for tasting.

The 2016 wines from Burgenland

The year 2016 brought us small quantities of wine of exceptional quality. At the wine tasting in the TonHalle, you'll encounter typical varietal aromas, balanced acidity, and a velvety richness on the palate. The presentation begins at 2:00 PM – for trade professionals only – and from 4:00 PM onwards, the TonHalle is open to the public for tasting until 8:00 PM. Matthias Siess, Chairman of Wein Burgenland, describes this year's Burgenland wines, with their indigenous grape varieties, clear origins, and outstanding quality, as "a great opportunity on the market to win over new enthusiasts for Burgenland wines." So even if you haven't had much exposure to Burgenland wines before, or missed out last year, it's all the more worthwhile to come this year.
