An overview of the specialty beers

The popular Giesinger beer has been brewed on Giesinger Berg since 2012. Later this year, a second Giesinger Bräu brewery, currently under construction, will open. All Giesinger Bräu beers are unfiltered and brewed without heat treatment. A wide selection of hops, different yeast strains, and the finest regional ingredients are used to create the diverse Giesinger Bräu beers. Naturally, all beers are brewed according to the German Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot). Depending on the variety, they contain different malted grains. Let's take a closer look.

The individual varieties

A total of 26 different beers have been brewed at Giesinger Bräu. Anyone visiting the brewery will find at least 10 of these varieties on site or on the menu at the Giesinger Bräustüberl (brewery taproom). The main beers are Giesinger Weissbier (wheat beer), Giesinger Märzen (March beer), Untergiesinger Erhellung (light lager), Giesinger Dunkel (dark beer), Münchner Pils (Munich pilsner), and Giesinger Radler (shandy).

A true Giesing original!

Giesinger Bräu's flagship product is undoubtedly the naturally cloudy cellar beer („Untergiesinger Erhellung“), which is brewed exclusively from aroma hops and malted barley from the Munich area (alc. 5.31 T/kg; on site: 0.5l/3.50 Euro). Giesinger Weissbier In contrast, this one consists of five different malt varieties. The character of the wheat beer is shaped by both the Bavarian wheat beer yeast and the traditional open fermentation (alc. 5.51 T/L; available on site: 0.5l/€3.70). Anyone looking for a true rarity should try this unique beer. Giesinger Munique – A top-fermented, light bock with a smooth taste, golden-yellow color, and subtly hopped according to the latest tradition (6.51% ABV; available on-site: 0.33l/€3.60). The "father of all strong beers" is part of the Giesinger range. Giesing hailstorm, which skillfully combines bitter, sweet, and strong notes. It's served in the Bräustüberl (brewery taproom) with a tasting glass and pairs perfectly with desserts such as Kaiserschmarrn (8.51% ABV; on-site: 0.33l/€5.40). Dark Munich malt and a particularly long maturation process, on the other hand, make the Giesinger Dunkel A well-balanced and full-bodied dark beer with a robust flavor (5.31% ABV; available on-site: 0.5l/€3.70). The only unfiltered Munich Pilsner Incidentally, this beer is only available here at Giesinger Bräu. Due to its high original gravity, it is characterized by its hoppy aroma and, unlike a typical Pilsner, is not bitter. (alc. 5.71 TJ/3T; on site: 0.33l/€3.40).

Those who prefer something a bit stronger should ask about the craft beers on site. Double Alt (strong, caramel-flavored, hoppy, and top-fermented beer; alc. 7.0%; on site: 0.33l/4.90 Euro) or also Lemondrop Triple (A strong, lively, and hoppy fruity beer in the triple style; yellow, opalescent, and citrusy; alc. 7.5%; on site: 0.33l/5.40 Euro).

Craft beers are also available.

A word about Giesinger Bräu itself: Giesinger Bräu's goal has always been to brew honest beer under its own direction. This aims to preserve the tradition of great Munich beers while also enriching the diversity and richness of Munich's beer scene. They also offer a very popular beer tasting, where you get three 0.1-liter draft beers of your choice for €6. This is a fun way to get to know Giesinger better (best enjoyed with good Bavarian food).
