Shop Local | Hirmer Munich presents 30 Munich brands – At the Hirmer fashion house on Kaufingerstrasse, 30 leading Munich brands from the gastronomy, fashion, lifestyle, and crafts sectors have come together under the motto "BUY LOCAL". Since mid-February of this year, these brands have been presenting a joint image in Munich to showcase the city's unique local products, goods, food, and more – characterized by iconic, individual, and young companies.

The abundance of local businesses in Munich provides strong support for innovation, tradition, quality, and high standards in the final product. Munich, together with its local brands, is known and characterized by quality products, good ingredients in food and beverages, and transparency for the customer. Since, unfortunately, more and more retail chains are dominating the city centers of various cities, the Hirmer department store in the city center, together with Munich brands, wants to make a statement under the banner of "BUY LOCAL," to raise awareness and encourage people to take a closer look. For many great products, you don't have to travel far at all, because the latest food trend, global hype, or the next "must-have" can be found in the form of a cool store, a newly opened smoothie shop, or a first-class bakery just around the corner in Munich.

„This should stay that way!“ thought the team at Hirmer Munich, together with David Thomas – co-initiator of the campaign and buyer for the fashion house – and promptly brought Munich's top brands to the store. The BUY LOCAL campaign is something everyone can feel, taste, and see. Since February 15th, for the next four weeks, high-quality and unique products from Munich's hottest brands can be sampled, tried, and purchased on Kaufingerstrasse. A truly unique project that unites an unprecedented number of Munich brands – the local heroes, so to speak.

However, you won't find typical Munich fare here; instead, the uniqueness of the products, their quality, and above all, the insider tip aspect play a particularly important role. I'm personally thrilled with the initiative and will continue to explore the individual brand stations at the Hirmer fashion house. More and more brands are joining the "Hirmer-BUY LOCAL - Family" and presenting their products. Whether you're a seasoned Munich resident or a tourist, a visit is worthwhile. A particularly great feature: some products were even specially created for this initiative and are available for the first time in limited quantities in brick-and-mortar stores, or will be available there in the future.

To give you a little preview: BallaBeni (everyone surely knows them…the delicious ice cream…) is creating a special "Munich ice cream," bartender Robinson Kuhlmann from Gärtnerplatz will be taking over the Hirmer day bar for two days with special drinks made from Munich spirits, and brands like Aqua Monaco, the Schmidt bread bakery, CRÄCK – Sugar & Spice, Soul of Bavaria Gin, Giesinger Bräu, and others are also part of the BUY LOCAL campaign. Definitely stop by. A visit can't hurt, and you'll get a little closer to Munich and its coolest local brands. I was amazed by the variety, individuality, and creativity offered by original Munich products. At the same time, the campaign is also a call to action for everyone across Germany to develop similar initiatives and create a kind of tradition of learning about Munich's local brands through BUY LOCAL at Hirmer Munich.
