Advance notice: THE FOOD & LIFE – November 2020 – Every year I look forward to the winter months. One of the main reasons for this is the FOOD & LIFE trade fair, which has been held for years and will take place again this year from November 25th to 29th. Despite the challenging times, this year's FOOD & LIFE fair will once again offer an incredible number of new and exciting stands and vendors to discover (and taste). Join me for a little preview and find out what the other highlights of this year's fair are, besides the FOOD & LIFE Newcomer Award 2020.

The FOOD & LIFE 2020

Trade fairs often overwhelm you with so many impressions that you end up not even remembering what you actually saw. While FOOD & LIFE prevents this with excellent organization and a detailed fair guide, I still want to highlight the clear "must-see" stands and activities. One of the first important points is the newly appointed patron of FOOD & LIFE, Bavarian Minister of Agriculture Michaela Kaniber. A very dedicated and motivated minister whom I've had the pleasure of meeting at various events.

Turning our attention to the exhibitors, there's plenty to see and report on. This year's FOOD & LIFE trade fair once again impresses with over 160 different exhibitors. One of my favorites is the dedicated "Start-up Area"—the "FOOD.Start.ups" section—which showcases newcomers to the market and demonstrates the innovative, creative, and diverse nature of the food scene. Strolling through the stands of the individual startups will give you a great overview of current food trends and market innovations. For example, eatly—a fermented, vegan, organic batter in a bottle for all kinds of stir-fries—is exhibiting at the fair for the first time. This year, the inaugural FOOD & LIFE Newcomer Award 2020 will be a particularly special event, offering fantastic prizes to startups participating in FOOD & LIFE 2020. The brand new FOOD & LIFE – Newcomer Award

The FOOD & LIFE Newcomer Award offers participating startups the chance to win prizes worth approximately €3,000. This is a public vote award, where the jury consists of the trade fair visitors themselves. After tasting the respective products in the "FOOD.Startups" area, they can fill out a ballot and cast their vote. The winner will be announced on Saturday, November 28th.

How does participation in the FOOD & LIFE – Newcomer Award? – In five easy steps. First, book a stand for yourself and your start-up in the „FOOD.Start-ups“ area – you can do this via this link or via email Once you've secured a booth at the trade fair, film a short pitch video about yourself and your startup and send that in as well. by email Send your video to the trade fair's marketing team. Then you're almost there! All you need to do is share your video on your social media channels. This will encourage your followers and fans to visit your booth at the fair and vote for you. The fifth and final step also requires a bit of luck, and with enough votes, you could become the winner of the FOOD & LIFE NEWCOMER AWARD 2020 at the FOOD & LIFE trade fair 2020. Pretty cool, right?
