Yesterday we had breakfast at Café Zeitgeist on Türkenstraße. Zeitgeist is a very simple, friendly place. When we arrived – around noon on Saturday – only one other table was occupied.
The restaurant is a very long, narrow space, furnished with dark—and quite basic—furniture, purple walls, and, in the back, armchairs and red walls. While the ambiance and coziness certainly suffered yesterday morning, partly because we were the only occupied table after a while (as I was leaving, I saw that most people were sitting outside, probably due to the nice weather), and we felt a bit deserted, I didn't find it particularly inviting in today's climate. The purple on the walls feels rather cold, there were dust bunnies, crumbs, and a dead spider on the windowsills, and we generally agreed that it could easily be improved.
Breakfast itself was very tasty. I ordered the Fitness Breakfast and received exactly what I expected: dark whole-wheat bread with cottage cheese and tomatoes. A very simple dish, which you could, of course, make yourself much more cheaply, but very tasty and fresh with plenty of cottage cheese. It came with Bircher muesli with fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. I also ordered a large hot chocolate, which was so big I couldn't finish it. Unfortunately, the fruit completely obscured the muesli, and all the juice from the fruit turned the Bircher muesli into a mush and quite sour – though the actual flavor was very good. My companion ordered the Sensory Breakfast and an additional Bircher muesli. The salmon was fresh and plentiful. There was enough bread that we even had some left over. The cappuccino was fine.
The staff at Zeitgeist – we had a young waiter – were exceptionally friendly, and you could immediately tell that you were welcome and appreciated – unfortunately, that's not always the case, even though you'd expect it from a restaurant. There's also an extensive menu for main courses – but we were only there for breakfast. Main courses include various burgers, pasta dishes, pizzas, etc. There's also a weekly specials menu.
Overall, our breakfast was fine – there wasn't really anything to complain about. The service was definitely friendlier than average, and the breakfast itself was okay – but nothing truly exceptional. At €35 including tip, it was reasonable – it couldn't have been more expensive. It's also worth noting that we were in Schwabing.

I'll be back: Yes. Even though it was a very simple breakfast, it was delicious. Maybe we'll try the main courses there again.
