FINE The Wine Magazine – Issue 01/2017 | first time in a new design – FINE Wine Magazine is published quarterly, offering a look at the world's great wines four times a year. This year's first issue, available from March 11, 2017, is quite special. I have it right in front of me, and I'm getting a sneak peek. Packed with fascinating facts about the world of wine, valuable information, portraits, features, exclusive tastings, and extensively illustrated with expressive and vibrant photography, FINE Wine Magazine captivates with everything related to wine. It's sure to enthrall wine lovers and collectors, as well as connoisseurs, professionals, and simply anyone interested in wine.

What makes this wine magazine so special? In my opinion, primarily, besides the new and "fresh" design with its new logo and cover, the diversity of topics and the professional yet accessible perspective on these different areas. Each issue covers completely different subjects. For example, the first 2017 issue featured "Finca Vega Sicilia and the Unico," "Great Barolos," "The New Médoc," "The Schloss Halbturn Winery," "Cabinet Pieces," "There's More to Oysters" (very exciting!), and "Carolin Spanier-Gillot." FINE Wine Magazine presents a colorful mix, yet cohesively arranged, always offering at least 148 pages of new and interesting topics. As always, each issue also includes conversations and interviews with winemakers, experts, and oenologists, as well as tastings of the most sought-after wines and champagnes.

From the "Wine & Food" column

In this issue, I particularly enjoyed the "FINE Tasting" with Dirk R. Notheis, who tasted 20 Vega Sicilia Unico wines from the vintages of 1920 to 1994, as well as three Unico Reserva Especial, and described their flavor profiles and differences on a two-page spread. I also devoured the article on "The Madeira Paradox – As Famous as It Is Unknown," as well as the "Wine & Food" column. Throughout the magazine, there are numerous pictures and inviting photographs from the world of wine. Fantastic! Anyone interested in wine, with a general affinity for it and specific wine-related topics, will surely enjoy FINE The Wine Magazine – which, incidentally, was first published in September 2010. One of FINE's great strengths is its ability to elegantly integrate fine products into exclusive stories and a luxurious setting. As a reader, I always felt "taken along on the most diverse journeys of the wine world," regardless of whether the topic immediately captivated me when I skimmed the table of contents or not – at the latest after the first two or three lines, I always felt gripped, well entertained and informed at the same time.

Engaging articles with professional photography throughout the magazine

FINE Wine Magazine is available in select bookstores and newsagents in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Each issue costs €15. I highly recommend this particular issue – perhaps as an introduction to the world of FINE – as it combines a new design with the same expertise, charm, and style, offering interesting, varied, and informative coverage of the world of wine. The second issue of FINE Wine Magazine will be published in June 2017 and will also feature exciting topics.
