Discover the MIYABI restaurant in Grünwald
Located in Grünwald, the MIYABI restaurant has stood for the finest and most authentic Vietnamese cuisine, as well as traditional and high-quality sushi, since its opening in 2016. "MIYABI" comes from Japanese and represents elegance – an elegance that you will experience immediately upon entering this stylish restaurant, combined with warm service and an inviting atmosphere.
The restaurant's interior is divided into a spacious entrance area, an urban bar area with high tables, and an inviting dining area with various seating options. Thanks to the subtle lighting, understated decor, and overall harmonious design, I immediately felt comfortable at MIYABI.
The food comes from two kitchens: traditional Japanese sushi and authentic Vietnamese dishes – "just like Mom used to make." MIYABI welcomes you for great drinks, Asian-inspired cocktails, a Saigon beer at the bar, or for lively and extensive dinner evenings with sushi and other delicacies in the restaurant area. Only high-quality ingredients, authentic creations, and the freshest fish grace the plates and sushi platters.
The sushi at MIYABI is simply heavenly, both visually and in terms of taste, and I definitely recommend planning an intermediate (and/or main) course for the sushi. My tip: Try several different highlights from the menu and share them with your companion. This way you can sample more and get a good overview of what MIYABI has to offer.
The Menu The menu is divided into "Japanese Starters", "Sushi" (Nigiri, Hoso Maki, Ura Maki, MIYABI's Fancy Rolls and Sashimi), "Vietnamese Starters", "Asian Soups", "Salads", "Noodle Dishes", "Duck Dishes", "Beef Dishes", "Chicken Specials", "Fish and Seafood", "Vegetarian Dishes" and "Desserts".
MIYABI caters to everyone from fans of the finest sushi – where you can also create your own custom sushi platters – to those who prefer classic Vietnamese cuisine, as well as vegetarians. I also really appreciate the friendly and helpful staff at MIYABI. If you're unfamiliar with certain items or menu terms, you can always ask them. All dishes are also available for takeout.

My visit in the setting described above was simply magical! Together with my companion, I first enjoyed two delicious drinks from the „Asian inspired cocktails“ menu, accompanied by two different starters. It began with a „"Tuna tartare"“ with chopped tuna, avocado, quail egg, okra, chives, tartar sauce and lotus root chips, as well as a „"Salmon carpaccio"“ in an olive oil and lime dressing with chives and sesame seeds. Both appetizers tasted exquisite, were ideal for sharing, and were as fresh as one could wish for in both tartare and carpaccio. The drinks were also excellent. „Earl of Japan“ (My tip for you!) My favorite.
It continued with three different types of nigiri, two pieces each, in the varieties „"Hamachi"“ (Yellowtail mackerel), „Unagi“ (River Hall) and „Salmon Aburi“ (Flambéed salmon – my clear favorite among the nigiri I've tasted so far). We also enjoyed a recommended..., dry Sauvignon Blanc (from Philipp Kuhn in the Palatinate) From 2021. Let me tell you, anyone who hasn't yet had the chance to truly enjoy high-quality nigiri should definitely try this to experience what truly perfect sushi should taste like. A solid 10 out of 10!
After a short break to chat and enjoy the wine, our equally excellent main courses arrived, which we again enjoyed with two recommended cocktails perfectly matched to our dishes – a „"Japan Sour"“ and a „"Calpico Smash"“.We shared beef with vegetables, Thai basil, pepperoni, oyster sauce, and jasmine rice. („bo xao la que“) and jumbo tiger prawns with lemongrass, onions, spring onions, pepperoni and jasmine rice („tom xa ot“). Both are very fresh, perfectly seasoned, and also ideal for sharing.
For the final dessert, we again relied on the competent advice of the on-site service and enjoyed delicious espresso macchiato and homemade desserts "made by Mom". Sesame and matcha ice cream, each accompanied by delicious Mochi ice cream. Haven't heard of it yet? – You absolutely must try it!
Overall, the MIYABI restaurant is a true gem when it comes to Asian cuisine and therefore fits perfectly into the high-quality Fine Dine Munich Box. I'm sure you'll enjoy your visit as much as my companion and I did. Take your time and come with a hearty appetite – it's a wonderful place to relax and enjoy yourself for several hours! We've already decided to come back and enjoy an XXL platter of sushi with drinks! 😉
