„Foodlr – made with love“ – I recently discovered this app while looking for new dining options in Munich – options outside of restaurants but without having to cook at home. (Those who read my articles regularly know that I welcome any opportunity to avoid cooking ;-)) I quickly came across the new app "Foodlr," found it quite interesting, and decided to explore it further. Now I'd like to tell you about it.

To be more precise: Foodlr is a platform in the form of an app that allows you to share your cooking skills and favorite dishes with people in your immediate vicinity, or to search for them there. Simply put, it works like this: You cook a delicious meal, upload it to Foodlr, and wait for potential customers, people to pick it up, or those who want to eat with you. Of course, it also works the other way around. While I'm still relatively unskilled when it comes to cooking, if you're more experienced, you can upload your own cooked and prepared food directly through the app, offer it for sale, and also share it directly (e.g., via Facebook).

So, if you're hungry but don't feel like using a standard delivery service or going to a restaurant, all you have to do is... Foodlr App Simply download the app, create a profile (or log in via Google or Facebook – that's what I did), and then you can see if there's anything delicious available for pickup in your area. Of course, for this to work, many enthusiastic home cooks need to post their culinary creations online. Because without food, there's no food swap. I'd therefore recommend downloading the app right away and telling all your baking and cooking-enthusiast friends about it.

How often do you bake a cake or cook something and end up with way too much? Cake always seems to disappear eventually ;-), but why not offer and sell it online? Most of us women love to bake – I'm including myself in that group – and with Foodlr, your creations are sure to find a home – whether it's snacks, main courses, soups, salads, cakes, etc. Get started with Foodlr right away, upload your dishes, encourage your friends to join in, and help the Foodlr community grow every day.

I know that these days, we're bombarded with food-sharing offers, countless apps, and tons of opportunities to meet new people at all sorts of events, etc., and it's hard to know what's actually good and what's rubbish. With Foodlr, I can tell you unequivocally: it's good! Otherwise, I wouldn't be telling you about it. It's so simple and straightforward: Cook. Share. Pick up. Eat. All you have to do is be home to hand over the food you selected and ordered via the app to the hungry person at your door, take payment, and that's it. Currently, there aren't too many dishes online, as we want many more foodies, cooking enthusiasts, hobby cooks, and the like to hear about Foodlr and become members – if only so I have more options! 🙂

I tried the app right after installing it and found, for example, an apple strudel for takeaway, for €2 per portion, very close to me. 🙂 I was able to click directly on the dish, or in this case, dessert, see the portion size, and order. I also think it's great that there's a picture of the prepared food with each dish. I, for example, never go to a restaurant without checking the menu online beforehand, and here there's even a picture of the actual dish, or in this case, dessert. So you don't have to order anything you haven't at least seen in a photo beforehand. 🙂

The added value lies clearly in the ability to quickly find out if someone nearby offers freshly cooked dishes, cakes, desserts, and the like, which can be picked up ready to eat at naturally lower prices than in a restaurant – and perhaps even enjoyed with the cook. If, for example, you're not willing to travel more than 3 or 4 km for a satisfying meal, you simply enter the maximum search radius into the app. Categories (vegetarian, vegan, spicy, Italian, etc.) can also be selected.

The app also provides an overview of previously ordered dishes, and you can even chat with the chef to ask any questions about the meal. For example, I don't like raisins in my apple strudel, so it was handy to be able to quickly ask before ordering. Since I found the apple strudel delicious and it's offered regularly, I immediately saved the restaurant as a "favorite" so I wouldn't miss any offers and could easily find them. A very practical feature, in my opinion. Because the service, value for money, food, and atmosphere vary from place to place, my rating doesn't use my usual points system. Have fun! ...and now download the Foodlr app and post something delicious for me to pick up. 😉
