I'm so happy about my vegetable box.
Create and deliver your own individual vegetable boxes – A while ago I told you about the Böck Nursery in Neufarn I was given the opportunity to tour the greenhouses, smell the fresh herbs, speak with nursery owner Florian Böck, and taste tomatoes fresh from the vine. A key aspect of the family business is the delivery of customized vegetable boxes to private households, offices, and companies. As announced in the first report, I also tested the service („Order vegetables„) I've tried it out now. Now I want to share my experience with you and encourage you to order from there too and eat really good vegetables.”.
The vegetable boxes from the Böck nursery
Let's not beat around the bush: ordering a box of fresh vegetables and fruit, or groceries in general – even from faraway countries – to your home is no longer anything out of the ordinary these days. A quick glance at the streets of Munich is enough to see delivery services for bread, drinks, groceries, fruit, and, of course, vegetables. So why prick up your ears? – Because the vegetable boxes, or rather the "order-a-vegetable" service from the Böck nursery in Neufarn, offers numerous advantages. Advantages that other "box providers" don't offer at all, or at least not all at once. These are the reasons that have held me back until now.
Have you ever tasted different varieties of (heirloom) carrots?
1. No subscription required! That's right. You order your box whenever you want! Weekly, monthly, quarterly, or even just once? – You decide.
2. What goes in? – You decide that for yourself in 100%. Not in the mood for salad but a tomato junkie? – No problem, then just tomatoes! It's entirely up to you.
3. Fresh, fresher, Böck! – No, really. The vegetables go directly from the beds/fields to the designated areas where they are packed for the boxes after washing. Each delivery area has fixed delivery days, ensuring your vegetables arrive as fresh as possible.
4. Minimum order value 15 euros, free delivery for orders over 50 euros. How quickly can you spend 15 euros on some – pardon the expression! – junk, because you keep buying unnecessary things? In Böck's online shop, or rather, their "order vegetables" shop, you only "have to" spend 15 euros and get top-quality produce – without any lugging and for just 1.50 euros extra for delivery!
5. No additional packaging This is therefore an environmentally friendly and sustainable solution, as the vegetables are ready for you in the respective boxes.
Those were just five advantages that set this "Böck Box" apart from other providers. Now, let's get to the meatballs—no, tomatoes…

My personal "ordering vegetables" test
First, take a look around the shop and click through the categories. Everything is clearly laid out and – even for those who aren't vegetable experts – easily understandable. Let's take a look at the section divided into "Leafy Greens", "Root Vegetables", "Cabbage", and "Cut Herbs".„Fresh vegetables“Come on in! Oh, there's so much here! The shop currently offers onions, radicchio, kale, turnips, green beans, turmeric, ginger, broccoli, all kinds of lettuce, Brussels sprouts, radishes, and much more. Of course, all sections are filled with seasonal produce, meaning you'll always find what's in season. Let's get shopping!”.
I chose "green oak leaf lettuce," "red lettuce," "ingwa," and "turmeric"—each fresh and Bavarian, from their own greenhouse," "heirloom carrots, mixed colors (purple, yellow, white, red)," a "fennel," a "broccoli," and a "celery stalk." I wasn't quite sure what I would make with them when I made my selection, but I always seem to get rid of vegetables.
Order vegetables at the Böck nursery in Neufarn
Clicked on to the „Fruit vegetables„I scrolled through chestnuts (mmmmh!…), various types of pumpkin, mini peppers, zucchini, chili peppers, cucumbers and – I love them! – fourteen different varieties of tomatoes – what a paradise for me! Since I regularly eat cucumbers and tomatoes with cottage cheese When preparing my salad, I chose "mixed tomatoes" and "mini cucumbers." You should definitely include these, because it's so great to have up to 14 different types of tomatoes on one plate, to try them all and find your favorites.
In the category divided into "Kitchen" and "Garden"„Organic potted herbs„"Those of you who are real herb enthusiasts can really go wild here. I personally only chose a classic potted organic basil plant because I simply love fresh basil and tomatoes combined with, for example, good ham and bread. So why not take advantage of it, especially since all the herbs in the shop are organic?".
In the "„Fruit section“I also had a look around the online shop. Florian Böck told me that the fruit they offer comes – as far as is technically possible – from selected partners in the region and is offered alongside the vegetables – just like many other partner products in the shop. Because I wanted to try some, I also chose "Clementines Orri" and "red/white grapes" to go with my vegetables – both were beautifully juicy, crisp, and sweet.

Both "„Partner products“Once I arrived, I clicked through „From the Neighborhood“ (potatoes, honey, eggs, flour), „Regional Specialties“ (bread mix, cheese, chocolate, spices, syrup), „Specials“ (beeswax wraps, coffee, tea), „Game“ (wild duck, venison, smoked sausages), and „Homemade.“ I simply couldn’t resist and bought some of the sauces and pestos produced by the Böck nursery. The nursery offers these under the label…” „"made by a blooper"“ (#böckgemacht) offers products made especially for them, naturally from their own cultivation. I chose a delicious "tomato sauce," a clear "tomato essence," and the simply irresistible "tomato pesto." Everything is gone now, and I've already added the pesto back to my shopping cart.
Costs, delivery, collection
To place an order, you need to create an online account with your details and can then pay for your purchase via bank transfer or PayPal. During the ordering process, you enter your postcode and are then given the corresponding delivery date. If you'd like to try the service (…do it! ;-)…), but prefer to be your own "vegetable driver," you can also use the delivery stand located in Neufarn. Collection box Make use of it. Although the handover of your assembled box is currently contactless at your own apartment door, you can also easily and without contact pick up your box yourself.
My box, containing all the products mentioned above, cost me approximately €52 in total, of which €13.50 was for the "böckgemacht" products. You can find the individual prices for the vegetables, fruit, sauces, and other items directly with each product in the online shop. Please note that there is a €5 deposit for the box with your first delivery, but this will be credited towards your purchase price, as you can arrange for the empty box to be picked up or receive a new, full box with your next order.
You can order until 10 a.m. on the day of pickup, and your box will arrive the same day – depending on your delivery area – or it will be ready for you to pick up. Cool, right?

…and how did it taste?
Fantastic! I do eat a lot of vegetables and can taste whether they're fresh and really good. (And they are!). To be honest, that's exactly what I expected after my visit to the Böck nursery. Nothing was missing; the order was not only super fresh but also complete and looked exactly as you'd want it to.
As is generally the case with food in my household, not a single piece ended up in the trash, and I even shared it with a few loved ones – a very rare occurrence! 😉 Thanks to the box, I enjoyed a burrata with tomatoes and basil, delicious pasta with vegetables and pesto, an autumnal salad with vegetables and egg, and also just a raw vegetable snack here and there. Absolutely delicious!

My conclusion for you
I'm quite certain I'll be a regular customer of the vegetable boxes from the Böck nursery. Firstly, because of the advantages mentioned above, and secondly, because in this case I was personally present in front of the beds with all the freshly planted vegetables. So I was able to see the excellent quality for myself.
The variety of vegetables you can have packed in your box is also fantastic. Therefore, my clear conclusion to you this time is: Are you looking for top-quality, locally grown vegetables? Preferably in the form of customized boxes and without a bothersome subscription? Completely free of pre-packaged vegetables that you might not even like (or want to use)? – Then this is definitely the solution for you. Price, quality, flexibility, selection, and of course, taste: THUMBS UP!
