A must-see: The new show „Changes“ at the GOP Variety Theatre.
GOP Variety Theatre – Show: „CHANGES – The Chance for Change“ || Good news! – From now on, I will be reporting extensively on every new show at Munich's GOP Variety Theatre on my website and social media channels. Of course, I will attend each show in advance and then take you along on the performance with detailed articles, both in the form of reviews and recaps.
It all starts with the brand new stage show „Changes – The Chance of Change“, which you can experience until November 5th at the GOP Variety Theatre in Munich.
You can choose to book your theater tickets in combination with a multi-course meal in the auditorium, or with a menu of your choice in the theater restaurant "Leander". In addition to the specially designed menus and show cocktails, the GOP also caters to spontaneous appetites, offering a variety of snacks and delicious finger food – perfectly suited to the show and available to order throughout the evening.
Below you will find out what the new GOP show „Changes“ is about, why a visit is worthwhile for you and what you can expect on your plates (and in your glasses) outside of a booked menu.

The new stage show „Changes“ at the GOP Variety Theatre
If you're interested in a stage show at the GOP Variety Theatre, you can find out more about the show's content and story on their website. "Changes – The Chance of Transformation" takes place in a now-abandoned gas station and, featuring a cast of young, high-achieving artists, tells the story of change in life. It deals with the past, the present, holding on and letting go – in short, with themes that we have all encountered and will continue to encounter in life.
The new show "Changes" revolves primarily around a truly funny (and in the show, lovestruck) protagonist who's still stuck in the 80s and clinging to the great love he met back then. The central element of this entertaining, surprising, and poetic show is an old telephone booth, which is incorporated throughout – but that's all I'll say. Look forward to breathtaking acrobatics, wit, infectious joie de vivre, and pure entertainment. My companion and I thoroughly enjoyed "Changes" and laughed, applauded, and empathized with the "lovestruck eighties boy" quite a bit. 😉
Anyone who wants to know more beforehand can watch the trailer for the show on the GOP website, which is approximately 90 seconds long. First impressions of Changes. (Personally, I always like to be surprised and only watch the clip afterwards.) Anyone who wants to know more about the ensemble of the approximately two-hour show (including intermission) should also check the website, where all the performers and creative minds are listed.
The „Currywurst in a glass“ with the show cocktail „Gin Curaçao“
Finger food including specials and drinks (for the show)
As mentioned earlier, in addition to the standard theater and restaurant menu, the GOP also offers snacks and finger food on a separate menu for the theater. Besides the "snack menu," which includes "currywurst in a jar with fries," a "snack platter with homemade Obatzda (Bavarian cheese spread), mountain ham, pepperoni sausage, coarse liverwurst, radishes, and lard bread," a "cheese selection with fig mustard, butter, and homemade bread," and "nachos with aioli and chili salsa," there is also an additional table display with further snack recommendations and specials tailored to each show. There is a choice of two different burgers („Chicken Burger“ or „Vegan Burger“ (with chicken or vegan patty) and chia bun, tomato, cucumber, chipotle mayo, pointed cabbage and fries) as well as two „Changes Specials“ – a „White bean soup with chorizo and lemon curry oil“ and a „Cheesecake with quince and rosemary ice cream“.
In addition to the specials, the four different „Changes Show Cocktails“ were also created specifically for the show, which we sampled both before and during the show, accompanying the food.

My companion ordered the currywurst in a glass – very tasty, nicely presented, intensely seasoned, and swimming in plenty of sauce. The snack platter I ordered was also a good choice, ideal for sharing, and it landed in the middle of the table – everything was fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the first two show cocktails by the glass: the "Vodka Mandarin" with vodka, mandarin syrup, lemon and passion fruit juice, and the "Gin Curaçao" with gin, peach liqueur, blue curaçao syrup, lemon juice, and bitter lemon. The latter was my favorite and would therefore be my recommendation for the cocktail enthusiasts among you.
During the show's intermission (after about an hour), we fancied some more snacks, and I opted for the crispy nachos with dip, paired with the third (non-alcoholic) "Changes" cocktail made with mango, blackcurrant, passion fruit juice, and Fanta. My companion chose the bean soup, accompanied by drink number four, the "Short Island," featuring gin, vodka, rum, triple sec, lemon, and cranberry juice.
Here too, we shared, and I tried both the soup and the drink. Thanks to the GOP, I now know I'm definitely a bean soup fan. A fantastic special, where, in addition to the delicious taste, I really appreciated the sophisticated combination of ingredients. And of course, we both couldn't resist the second special, the cheesecake. Calories well spent! Look forward to intensely flavorful rosemary ice cream and a truly exquisite cheesecake, just the right size with a crunchy base.
Ordering snacks, specials, and show cocktails is possible throughout the evening, both with and without a pre-booked meal in the hall or restaurant. All in all, the snacks were delicious and a great choice, and we were happy with our decision. Depending on the occasion, your hunger, and your appetite, a few small snacks from the menu might also suffice. Bonus tip: Ask about the popcorn that's available to snack on during the show. 🙂

My companion and I had a wonderful evening with very warm and attentive service at our table, lots of laughs and "wow" moments thanks to the entertaining and impressive stage show, making it another absolutely unforgettable evening at the GOP. It's the perfect time to recommend a visit for yourself with your loved one, friends, family, or colleagues. The GOP Variety Theatre consistently creates the perfect blend of surprise, entertainment, and enjoyment. Ideal as a gift or, of course, as a treat for yourself. Thumbs up!
Therefore: When you book your tickets for the GOP, you can do so easily via the Website of the GOP Varieté Theater Munich You can book tickets online or by phone directly with the GOP. Tickets are a reasonable €49 per person. Depending on your choice, you can have a three-course meal served in the theater hall for an additional €27 (two-course meal for €21) per person – a vegetarian main course is also available upon request. If you prefer to dine in the "Leander" restaurant before the show and enjoy a set menu, this costs €39 per person. The finger food/snacks from the theater menu, which my companion and I selected, as well as the drinks, are available at any time without prior reservation.

Are you coming by car? – The best place to park is in the parking garage at the Hofbräuhaus. Alternatively, you can take subway lines 4 and 5 (Lehel stop) or tram lines 16, 19 and 21 (Maxmonument stop) to the GOP Variety Theatre.

Did you know? – There are seven GOP Variety Theatres in Germany. The one on Maximilianstrasse in Munich first opened its doors in 2008 and has since surprised audiences with an average of six varied and entertaining stage shows per year. The theatre is divided into a spacious foyer, the main auditorium with stage, the "Leander" restaurant, and a bar integrated into the foyer where drinks can be enjoyed before and after the shows.
