Don't miss it: The first GOP show of 2024 – „WILDERNESS – Meeting in the Forest“
GOP Variety Theatre Munich: the new show „WILDERNESS – Meeting in the Forest“ || The year is off to a great start, at least for those of you who like to combine good food with a fantastic stage show. One of my absolute favorites for entertainment and enjoyment is the GOP Variety Theatre Munich, which presents six different stage shows every year – optionally combined with a menu specially created for each show, either your choice of menu or a set menu for the theatre hall. As I promised you last year, I will attend each of these GOP shows in 2024 and report back to you afterward.
The first performance for the new year is the show „WILDERNESS – Meeting in the Forest“, which will be performed at the GOP Variety Theatre in Munich from January 18th to March 10th, 2024. Together with my companion, I was able to experience the once again superbly staged variety show and enjoy a delicious three-course meal in the theater hall beforehand.

The GOP Variety Theatre Munich: the new show „WILDERNESS – Meeting in the Forest“

The new show "WILDERNESS – Meeting in the Forest" has been playing at the GOP Variety Theatre in Munich since January 18, 2024. While the individual GOP shows are difficult to compare due to their different productions and performers, I personally enjoyed "WILDERNESS" immensely. There's plenty to laugh at, see, and marvel at. I'm always amazed by the diverse talents showcased by artists and performers from around the world.
What is "WILDERNESS – Meeting in the Forest" about? – "In our fast-paced times, the world seems to be shrinking. Digitalization has us firmly in its grip, and the Earth can be circled in just a few hours. To rediscover themselves and their own strengths, people from all walks of life retreat to the forest and its untouched wilderness. Untouched? Not quite, because one of them has been living there for some time. He already knows life here, but people have become strangers to him. How does the community come together? How do, among others, the bourgeois English couple, the Finnish naturalist couple, and the shy girl fit into the world of the king of the forests? An acrobatic journey into nature as a corrective to modern times."„
Sounds exciting, doesn't it? – Let me tell you this much in advance: it is! Anyone who enjoys a good laugh will be thrilled by "WILDERNESS – Meeting in the Forest". If you decide to visit the GOP Variety Theatre in Munich, you have the option of booking different packages. In addition to tickets (for €49 per person), you can choose between a two- or three-course meal (for €21 or €27) inside the theatre and before the show. Alternatively, you can also choose to dine at the restaurant located within the GOP. Theater-Restaurant „Leander“ You can add it on. There, you'll be served a delicious three-course meal of your choice (for €39) before the show. If you forgo the "culinary component" when booking, you can spontaneously choose a delicious meal on-site in the hall. GOP finger food Order from the table menu. If you opt for the two-course menu, a delicious main course and dessert await you at the "WILDERNESS – Meeting in the Forest" show. The three-course menu includes an additional starter – a creamy leek soup with vegan raviolo filled with button and portobello mushrooms. For the main course, you choose your option when booking your show tickets – either the meat-heavy option, namely tender braised grass-fed beef with potato and celery root purée, caramelized root vegetables, and Burgundy jus, or the vegetarian option – chickpea curry with sweet potato, crunchy vegetable roll, and braised carrots. Delicious! During the intermission, both menu options include the show's dessert: a "Black Forest Cherry Cake with a Twist" featuring brownie crumble, kirsch, vanilla parfait, and sour cherry cream – my personal favorite of the menu, by the way.
You can also order wine to accompany your three-course meal – the wine recommendation is listed directly on the menu. (The pasture-raised beef is paired with a dry Zweigelt from Luis Tränker, while the vegetarian chickpea curry is served with a Cuvée Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache & Syrah Rosé IGP from Domaine Montrose.) Additional wines are also available on the GOP's extensive drinks menu.

Conclusion, tickets and table
We absolutely loved it! – The show "WILDERNESS – Meeting in the Forest" is incredibly entertaining and will definitely give you plenty of laughs and create wonderful memories. We had a fantastic time all around, thanks not only to the talented performers but also to the attentive service staff and the delicious food. I can highly recommend a visit with your loved ones, friends, or colleagues. Even if you've already been to the GOP for past shows, it never gets boring, as the GOP Variety Theatre constantly creates completely different and new, yet always highly entertaining, stage shows. I'm already looking forward to the next show! You certainly can't go wrong with a visit to the GOP – whether for your own leisure time or as a gift. After all, memories are the best gifts, aren't they?

Tickets are still a fair €49 per person. Depending on which package you choose (show only, show and dinner, or restaurant visit followed by the show), you can get the "menu and show" package starting from €70 per person.

Are you coming by car? – The best place to park is in the Hofbräuhaus parking garage. Alternatively, you can take subway lines 4 and 5 (Lehel stop) or tram lines 16, 19, and 21 (Maxmonument stop) to the GOP Variety Theatre. And feel free to dress up; the GOP has the perfect setting for it.

About the GOP Variety Theatre
Did you know? – There are seven GOP Variety Theatres in Germany. The one on Maximilianstrasse in Munich first opened its doors in 2008 and has since surprised audiences with an average of six varied and entertaining stage shows per year. The theatre is divided into a spacious foyer, the main auditorium with stage, the "Leander" restaurant, and a bar integrated into the foyer where drinks can be enjoyed before and after the shows.
