Event tip: „AFTERNOON ICE TEA“ at Sophia's (The Charles Hotel) – From May to the end of August 2018, the new „Afternoon Ice Tea“ is served daily from 2:30 to 4:30 pm on Sophia's Terrace. It can also be enjoyed – for example, in bad weather – in Sophia's Bar. Iced tea creations and refreshing little treats – prepared by Executive Chef Michael Hüsken – are served.

The Sophia's Afternoon Ice Tea

Centrally located Sophia's is known for its constantly evolving, innovative, and diverse events. Not only because of its excellent cuisine, but also because of its versatility, Sophia's, with its cozy bar featuring live music, delicious business lunches, and event highlights, has become one of my favorites over the past few years. With the increasing number of sunny days, the restaurant is making a skillful entrance into the warmer afternoons. The new "Afternoon Ice Tea" entices guests with various iced tea creations, such as "Jermyn's Ice Tea"—an Earl Grey with mint, mango, lemon, and elderflower—or the "Moroccan Ice Tea," which impresses with Moroccan mint, cardamom, lemon, and mandarin.

Among the items served are sandwiches topped with raw marinated tuna, avocado, and lime. A refreshing watermelon salad with cucumber, feta, and mint is also part of Sophia's Afternoon Ice Tea. Sweet scones, a small strawberry tart, a matcha-yuzu opera slice, and ice pops perfectly round off this afternoon culinary delight.

About Sophia's Restaurant & Bar

You've never been to Sophia's? – What? 😉 Especially since I talk about it so much. Oh well…you're forgiven, then I'll see you for Sophia's Afternoon Ice Tea. If you'd like to learn a little more beforehand, here's some information: Sophia's Restaurant & Bar's botanical bistronomy concept is inspired by international neo-bistro trends in Paris, New York, and London, and of course, by the Old Botanical Garden right outside the door. The unique restaurant shares the space with the urban cocktail bar. Bistronomy is experienced in a relaxed atmosphere with high culinary standards. It's all brought to life by former Michelin-starred chef Michael Hüsken and his team. He embraces a vibrant approach to flavors, spices, and herbs, which he meticulously researches, tests, and presents in exciting ways. The bar concept, with its unique drinks and equally imaginative flair, follows the botanical theme of Sophia's. Bar manager Roman Kern prepares herbal essences, dries fruits and vegetables, pulverizes liqueurs, infuses spices, and thus creates his extraordinary cocktail creations, which I, incidentally, have already drunk many times.
