SUSHI DAILY – Tested: Freshly made sushi box from the supermarket – I recently wrote a very detailed article about Sushi Daily – Read more here. Sushi Daily is a Europe-wide sushi provider with over 700 locations. Four of these are in Bavaria, two of them in Munich or the surrounding area. Having been so impressed by the selection at the real supermarket within the Euro-Industrial Park, I decided to visit the REWE supermarket in Neubiberg this time.

Sushi Daily: New opening at REWE (Neubiberg)

The REWE supermarket in Neubiberg has been offering fresh sushi in various boxes at a Sushi Daily station for several weeks now. Just like at the Real supermarket, a well-stocked counter offers sushi in a wide variety of styles, box sizes, and combinations. If you can't find a particular type of sushi, the friendly sushi chefs at REWE will happily prepare the rolls you'd like. I already discovered my favorites during my first Sushi Daily visit. The selection is identical to the other location; you can find the entire range of sushi offered by Sushi Daily at the Neubiberg branch. Unlike the Real location, a huge Sushi Daily banner on the outside of the supermarket clearly indicates the presence of the sushi shop. There's also a small shop area offering Japanese chips, beer, sake, and other items.

Admittedly, even on my first visit to Sushi Daily in northern Munich, the large sushi boxes were particularly tempting. Then, during my next stop at REWE, I simply couldn't resist. Here's how it works: before you've finished your shopping, for example, you approach the trained Sushi Daily team and tell them which platter you've chosen. These are always freshly prepared for you and, unlike the smaller boxes and various rolls, you won't find them displayed in the counter. Sushi at Sushi Daily is never older than a few hours and is always incredibly fresh. Once you've placed your order – in my case, the SAKURA SUNSET box and a NIGIRI DUO box – you wait about 10-12 minutes (…since everything is made fresh…) and can then leave with your super-fresh sushi. You pay at the regular checkout. Cool, right?

That's how my selection ended up at my home.

Yes, and what can I say, my platter was a hit. Sushi, or rather the enjoyment of it, stands or falls with the quality of the raw ingredients, meaning the fish. There's absolutely nothing to criticize about Sushi Daily in that regard, and so the 54 pieces of sushi from the SAKURA SUNSET Box (for €44.90) were all delicious. It contained eight "Crunch California Rolls," eight "Wakame California Rolls," six "Verde Maki Salmon," six "Roll'in Salmon Cheese" (my favorites!), six "Maki California," six "Maki California Tuna Mayo," six "Spicy Roll Tuna," three "Salmon Sashimi," three "Tuna Sashimi," and two "Ikura Gunkan." So there was something for everyone. I shared it with two equally big sushi fans, and we were all thrilled. We also had a nigiri box from the counter, and here too, both the salmon and the tuna were very fresh and of restaurant quality. I really enjoyed it again and – depending on where you live – you can eat super good sushi at both locations – real (Euroindustriepark) or REWE (Neubiberg) – in my opinion.

Alternatively, there are four other platters available. For example, the "Flower Set" with 67 maki rolls in various flavors, or the "XXL Platter" with plenty of salmon and tuna. It's best to take a look for yourself. Flyers are available on-site, as well as for the smaller boxes. And don't forget the "Genmai Roll'in Salmon Cheese"—they're my absolute favorite, even more so than the crunch rolls in different varieties.
