This wonderful summer event offers you the rare opportunity to get to know the wine-growing regions of Lower Austria and their best wines in direct comparison, to talk to the local winemakers about the winning wines and of course to taste them to your heart's content.

The competition: The Lower Austrian State Wine Awards

What's it all about? – First, a little background on the Lower Austrian State Wine Awards. Lower Austria is the largest federal state in Austria by area and is known for its exceptional wines. The Lower Austrian State Wine Awards are not only a benchmark for evaluating a vintage, but also the largest independent wine competition in all of Lower Austria. The competition offers established winemakers and newcomers equal opportunities. From around 6,300 wines submitted for tasting, the state champion wines are selected in 21 categories.

The award also serves as a benchmark for quality. As part of the state wine awards, the winning wines are selected, which act as "ambassadors for the best Lower Austrian wine" and are entitled to bear this year's state winner seal – a long-established award for wine quality among both winemakers and consumers, and at the same time a guide to choosing the best wines.

Now, let's talk about your opportunity to taste these award-winning Austrian wines in Munich. The wine tasting at Nymphenburg Palace takes place... It will take place on Wednesday, July 13th, starting at 4:00 PM. You will have the opportunity to taste the wines at the castle, visit the exhibiting winemakers, taste the winning wines and of course ask questions about the wines.

Once you have your Ticket booked online And having secured your limited access to the wine tasting, you are also guaranteed a voucher for a fresh and perfectly matched Brettljause (vegetarian option available) – this is part of the tasting and is available for you as a visitor.

On-site, you can explore the different wines on your own. Marked winner boards will guide you through the hall. Since the tasting is scheduled until 8 pm, you'll have four hours (from 4 pm to 8 pm) to sample all the wines and try them all.

For professionals and industry experts, the MASTERCLASS begins at 1:30 p.m., with a welcome glass of sparkling wine – also served in a Sophienwald glass – in the Orangery Hall at Nymphenburg Palace. At 2:00 p.m., the "Only Professionals" MASTERCLASS commences, featuring the winners and finalists selected at the Lower Austrian State Wine Awards. Harald Scholl will present the competition winners in traditional, carefully balanced flights – all blind tastings, expertly commented on and accompanied by extensive background information on the wines. He will discuss the differences between the individual wine-growing regions, their unique characteristics, and the stylistic features of the winning wines.
