Grand Opening: Café Rischart Rotkreuzplatz | Rischart opened its newest branch at the beginning of April 2022. This marks the first time the traditional Munich bakery has a presence in Neuhausen/Nymphenburg. Shop customers and café guests can expect the usual high-quality baked goods, a cozy café with a lobby, delicious breakfasts, and a large sun terrace on warm days. I was there for the opening, chatted with Mr. Müller-Rischart, and of course, took a look around for you.

The new Café Rischart Rotkreuzplatz in Neuhausen

You know that I've been a huge fan of the traditional Munich bakery Rischart for many years. In numerous posts and articles, I've already told you about Rischart's branches, cafés, counter highlights, and much more. I've also had the pleasure of experiencing several tours of their production facility on Buttermelcherstraße and tasting new products. (Feel free to read more if you're interested.) All previous articles about Rischart Munich after.)

Now, there's reason to rejoice for me and all you Rischart fans, because Rischart's Bakery has opened its first shop-café in a Munich neighborhood. The 170 m² Neuhaus bakery features a cozy lobby, located directly opposite the counter stocked with fresh baked goods, as well as a quieter café area set back, with seating for up to 50 guests. The branch, including the café, boasts the typical modern Rischart style. The design concept for the new location was developed in collaboration with the "Nymphenburg Consult AG" group and the interior designers at "AHA GmbH," just like the renovation of Café Rischart Marienplatz in 2018. So, at Rotkreuzplatz, you can expect natural materials, organic shapes, a sweeping view of Munich's Rotkreuzplatz through the large windows, and, of course, an unobstructed view of the enticing display.

In summer, you can also look forward to the spacious and inviting terrace, which is not only perfect for sunbathing and enjoying delicious baked goods, but also ideal for relaxing in the popular Neuhausen district. Personally, I'm already looking forward to warm days when I can choose treats from the counter at Rischart Café Rotkreuzplatz, then sit in the sun and enjoy the vibrant Munich atmosphere with a slice of cake, a delicious breakfast, or a light snack.

When asked, Mr. Müller-Rischart was also delighted about the 17th Rischart opening: "As an original Munich family bakery with centuries of tradition, the opening of the café at Rotkreuzplatz fulfills a long-cherished wish for us. We are pleased to be able to spoil the residents of Neuhausen and Nymphenburg directly with our sweet and savory delicacies from now on."„

Visiting the grand opening: Highlights, offers and more.

For me personally, the highlight will definitely be the aforementioned sunny terrace. You can decide for yourselves whether you use it or the comfortably furnished café for your morning breakfast and/or stop by for delicious cakes and pastries. As is the case everywhere at Rischart, the coffee served is organic Fairtrade (coffee, cappuccino, latte, latte macchiato, espresso, hot chocolate). Beer, aperitifs (Hugo, Aperol, Prosecco), and Lugana and Tratturi Primitivo wines are also available.

A glance at the breakfast menu reveals four different breakfast favorites. First, there's "Rischart's Breakfast Classic" (creamy herb cream cheese, farmer's ham, Emmental cheese, boiled egg, choice of jam, honey or Nutella, butter, a generous bread basket, and a croissant); the "Crunchy Power" breakfast (crunchy muesli with fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice); the "America" breakfast (scrambled eggs, breakfast bread, butter, homemade baguette, choice of jam, honey or Nutella, and freshly squeezed orange juice); and "Munich White Sausages"—two sausages with Händlmaier homemade mustard and two pretzels. The eggs served at Rischart come exclusively from free-range hens. Those who prefer a sandwich will find Rischart's usual extensive selection at the counter. But be sure to leave a little space for a delicious cake or a sweet pastry from the display.

Interesting facts about the traditional Rischart bakery

For those of you who aren't yet familiar with the history of the traditional Rischart bakery, here's a brief overview: Max Rischart Senior opened his first bakery in Munich in 1883, initially in the Isarvorstadt district. Since then, five generations have nurtured the growth and success of Rischart's bakery. Rischart's primary goal, together with its now approximately 500 employees, has always been to make a valuable (and delicious) contribution to Munich's quality of life. With 17 locations in prime Munich locations and eight million customers annually (as of April 2022), Rischart is now one of Munich's leading bakeries. Its flagship store on Marienplatz, with 1.2 million customers per year, is the most visited bakery branch in Germany.
