Nowhere else outside of Italy is the Italian way of life as pronounced as in Munich. The love for the country, its people, music, and cuisine is undeniable in Munich. All the more wonderful, then, that since the end of last year, there's another little piece of "Italy" in our beautiful Bavarian capital: the Assoluto Ristorante & Vineria. This newly opened restaurant is located in Munich's Westend district, within the also newly opened "Munich Marriott Hotel City West," and delights its guests with authentic Italian cuisine. Head chef Marco De Cecco hails from Udine in northern Italy and, together with his kitchen team, ensures that your visit to the Assoluto Ristorante will make you feel like you're on an Italian vacation. In addition to the exquisite Italian creations, the attractive decor, the open-plan design including a visible kitchen, and the harmonious color scheme contribute to a fantastic atmosphere.
Only high-quality and fresh ingredients – ideally sourced directly from Italy or the Munich region – will grace your plates, always of the finest quality. The dishes served combine Italian tradition, modern innovation, creativity, and freshness, resulting in food at Assoluto Ristorante that tastes at least as good and authentic as in Italy.
To perfectly complement your Italian specialties, the right wine is essential. Thanks to the Assoluto Vineria integrated into the restaurant, you'll be exceptionally well catered for when it comes to wine during your visit. Look forward to an impressive collection of around 1,500 bottles and a curated list showcasing 150 different wines – not just from Italy. Learn more on the Assoluto Ristorante & Vineria website.

The cuisine and menu at Assoluto Ristorante
During my visit, I had the opportunity to meet Head Chef Marco De Cecco and chat with the friendly chef about his philosophy, his cooking style, and the menu at Assoluto Ristorante & Vineria. "It's important to me that my team and I cook exclusively with high-quality ingredients, so we can show our guests just how delicious authentic Italian cuisine can be," he explained. He continued, "We plan to change the Assoluto Ristorante menu according to the season. Whatever nature, the season, our local area, and the various regions of Italy offer us in the desired quality, we transform into exquisite delicacies in our Assoluto kitchen and serve to our valued guests. It's important to us that each ingredient on the plate has ample room to express its own unique flavor and aromas.".
The Menu at Assoluto Ristorante & Vineria It offers both timeless classics and modern delicacies. In addition to various starters and snacks ("Seasonal selection of charcuterie & cheese"; "Marinated artichokes, arugula, semi-dried tomatoes, pine nuts"; "Beef carpaccio, pickled mushrooms, Parmesan"; "Crispy San Daniele ham"; etc.), you can expect a seasonal soup (currently an asparagus cream soup), various primi ("Radiatori with light tomato sauce, octopus, mussels, squid and shrimp"; "Homemade tagliatelle with beef ragù"; "Paccheri with tomato sauce, cherry tomatoes and fresh basil"; etc.) and an extensive selection of meat and fish dishes ("Secondi" - "Ombrine fillet"; "Salmon fillet"; "Octopus arm"; "Flank steak"; "Beef fillet"; "Poussin"; "Porterhouse steak for two people"; etc.). You choose the side dishes ("contorni") for your main course yourself. The options include steamed vegetables, baby potatoes, broccoli, mixed salad, mashed potatoes, and asparagus.

Calzone, Neapolitan style
A visit to Assoluto Ristorante is also worthwhile for pizza, as they offer Neapolitan-style pizzas, meaning pizzas with a thin, golden-brown crust and a light, airy edge. Neapolitan pizzas are known for being topped with only a few, high-quality ingredients – San Marzano tomatoes, Fior di Latte mozzarella, fresh basil, sea salt, and premium olive oil. After just a short time in a very hot oven, your pizza is baked quickly and evenly, and served with a light golden-brown crust. Assoluto Ristorante offers ten different toppings: Margherita, Porcini e Tartufo, Burrata, Valtellina, Salami, Tonno, Napoli, Quattro Formaggi, Calzone, and Vegetariana.
For dessert, you can look forward to both a classic tiramisu and special creations conjured up by Leonardo Scala, the house pastry chef – some based on recipes from Marco De Cecco's Italian mother.
Personal visit and conclusion
My companion and I were looking forward to our evening at Assoluto Ristorante from the moment we made the reservation – and rightly so, as I now know. I love Italian cuisine, especially when it's presented with high-quality ingredients and authentic creations.
During our visit, we enjoyed a truly delicious menu, expertly prepared for us by the team from a variety of à la carte creations and accompanied by perfectly paired wines. My personal favorite was the delectable octopus tentacle with fresh vegetables; my companion was particularly delighted by the calzone with tomato, mozzarella, Napoli salami, and cooked ham. We both found the desserts especially sophisticated. Mine was the "Ananas Marinato" with marinated pineapple, coconut sorbet, crumble, and fresh fruit.
When we finished eating (and enjoying) our meal for the evening, we both unanimously decided that we would definitely be back. There was simply too much on the menu that we would have loved to try. The ambiance, the atmosphere, and the attentive service also contributed to Assoluto Ristorante becoming one of our new favorites in Munich's Westend almost immediately after our first visit. Be sure to check it out – it's well worth it!

Assoluto Caffe is the perfect place for a quick lunch and relaxed after-work drinks.
Assoluto Caffe and westhub bar & lounge
In addition to the Assoluto Ristorante & Vineria, there's also the separate Assoluto Caffe, directly adjacent to the restaurant, as well as the westhub bar & lounge. The cozy Assoluto Caffe is open weekdays from 7 am to 3 pm, accessible via a separate entrance. You walk through it to reach the Italian restaurant (without having to go through the lobby). The Assoluto Caffe serves as a convenient spot for a quick lunch (menu also available online) and as a takeaway option for snacks, sandwiches, and excellent Italian coffee. Every Thursday from 5 pm to 7 pm, they host "Aperitivo Thursday," the hotel's newest after-work event, offering delicious drinks to enjoy after work.
With a taste of Italy, the westhub bar & lounge offers a place to relax, work in peace, network, and admire and enjoy the bartenders' stylish cocktail creations – definitely my next plan when I dine at Assoluto Ristorante again, or simply want to enjoy some delicious drinks with friends. So, if you're looking for a great bar with top-notch, handcrafted cocktails and delicious snacks, you should definitely keep the westhub bar & lounge in mind, along with Assoluto Ristorante, and add it to your list of life's little pleasures. Enjoy your visit; I'm sure you'll be just as impressed as we were.
