The ASH – Restaurant & Bar – Enjoy Summer Specials on the Schwabing Sun Terrace || Located in a prime Munich location on Leopoldstrasse in Schwabing, The ASH restaurant and bar, specializing in steaks, burgers, and American cuisine, opened this year. In addition to a tranquil sun terrace, weekend breakfast, a dedicated lunch menu, and friendly service, they now also offer a menu with special summer specials.

My companion and I took advantage of some sunny hours to enjoy summery dishes and drinks at "The ASH". Look forward to a great atmosphere, good food, and a new Munich hotspot on Munich's promenade.

By the end of 2025, "The ASH," a restaurant specializing in burgers, steaks, and American cuisine, will have nearly 20 locations in Germany, including one in Luxembourg. A visit to "The ASH" is all about enjoying food and drinks together, having a good time with delicious food and first-class dishes, and creating special moments in a unique atmosphere. The Munich location of "The ASH – Restaurant & Bar" comprises an inviting restaurant area, a spacious and tranquil sun terrace—equipped with a cozy bar on either side, perfect for relaxing—and a separate wine room.

The concept and interior of the Schwabing restaurant are inspired by the American supper clubs that were popular in the 1920s and 30s, so during your visit to "The ASH" you'll enjoy not only good food and attentive service, but also an elegant yet relaxed flair from a bygone era. With its laid-back, welcoming atmosphere, "The ASH" provides the perfect setting for socializing, relaxing, and enjoying yourself.

The Summer Specials at „The ASH“

To celebrate the current summer season, in addition to the standard, lunch, and breakfast menus, you can look forward to the special "Summer Specials." These were the reason my companion and I stopped by "The ASH," found a sunny spot on the terrace, and enjoyed delicious dishes perfectly suited to summer. The Summer Special menu is clearly laid out and offers plenty of options to suit every taste.

From fruity goat cheese salad, summer salad with roasted broccoli, and the juicy Smash Burger with your choice of side, to picanha (Argentine sirloin steak) with your choice of sides, to lemon beef pasta and KitKat™ pancakes, there's plenty to choose from. Accompanied by summery drinks ("Matcha Blueberry," "Sarti Spritz," "Limoncello Berry," "Pink Dragon," and "Passion Mule"), you can look forward to the perfect summer treat. Before I tell you about our visit, let's take a look at the standard menu of "The ASH.".

The ASH takes you on a culinary journey, offering a wide range of delicious dishes – in addition to its summer specials – on its standard menu and separate lunch menu. Crisp salads, juicy burgers, grilled classics, fish creations, sophisticated main courses, and special steak cuts, as well as vegetarian options, offer something to suit every taste and dietary need. Look forward to sharing platters and starters, chili con carne, chicken wings, king prawns, crunchy nachos, ciabatta with grilled tomatoes, and much more.

Steak lovers and seafood aficionados alike will find something to their liking. Surf & Turf, Yellowfin Tuna Tataki, Teriyaki Salmon Bowl, and freshly prepared seafood dishes are all part of the menu at "The ASH." If you prefer a vegetarian option, there's plenty to choose from, including various salads, truffle pasta, and other meat-free dishes. All the delicious burgers on the menu can also be served with a vegan patty upon request. The absolute veggie highlight is undoubtedly the "Redefine Meat™ Flank Steak"—a 3D-printed steak, so it's right on trend and definitely worth trying.

Are you on your lunch break and/or feeling hungry at lunchtime? – The ASH is the perfect place for you. Besides a variety of starters (pimientos, tomato soup, chili beef, etc.), you'll find salads and bowls, as well as a selection of main courses (for example, a delicious filled wrap, cannelloni, vegan chicken supreme, tender salmon, etc.). Our delicious burgers are also available for lunch, and you can either choose from the menu (BBQ burger, Yucatan burger, pulled beef burger, club sandwich, pastrami sandwich, etc.) or create your own burger from scratch ("create your own burger"). If you enjoy prime and special cuts with your choice of side, you'll also find an appealing selection on the lunch menu. These dishes are available at fair special lunch prices during The ASH lunch hours; you can also find the menu on their website.

On Saturdays and Sundays, you also have the option of having breakfast from 10 am. You can enjoy breakfast in a relaxed atmosphere until 12 pm (Saturdays) or even 2 pm (Sundays), choosing from a variety of options. Delicious oats, refreshing smoothies, fluffy scrambled eggs, tasty sandwiches, bowls, muesli, pancakes, and mimosa (a champagne and orange juice mix) are on the menu, with classic dishes given a modern twist, ensuring your dream breakfast. Personal review of the "Summer Specials" and conclusion

As mentioned, the focus of our visit was on the summer specials and summery drinks. After finding a comfortable spot on the beautiful terrace, we opted for the "Lemon Beef Pasta" with linguine, preserved lemon, cream, dill, and beef fillet, and the "Smash Burger Meal." The burger meal includes your choice of fries, ketchup or mayo, and a soft drink. Your burger features two beef patties made from 100% German beef, lettuce, pickles, tomato, mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard. You can also add extra cheese or omit one of the beef patties. To accompany our burgers, we chose two summery drinks from the summer menu: the "Sarti Spritz" with Prosecco, Sarti, and soda, and the "Limoncello Berry" with strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries, as well as Limoncello, Prosecco, and soda. To share, we also ordered the "Fruity Goat Salad" with a goat cheese medallion, fresh strawberries, asparagus, baby spinach, and lemon-lime vinaigrette. For our second round of summer drinks, we opted for the "Pink Dragon" with Malibu, Granini lime juice, guava dragon fruit, mint, and triple sec, as well as the non-alcoholic "Passion Mule" with Martini Vibrante, passion fruit nectar, ginger beer, and mint. For a sweet finish, we treated ourselves to the only dessert on the summer special menu and enjoyed fluffy "KitKat™ Pancakes" with berries, mint, sauce, and a crunchy topping.

Ever tried KitKat™ pancakes? – Head to "The ASH". It's worth it!

We shared all the food and drinks, trying four different dishes and drinks together. My favorite was the creamy lemon pasta with the tender beef. My companion ranked the delicious burger with its juicy patty as her favorite. As for the drinks, I thought the "Pink Dragon" was the best, both visually and in terms of taste, as was the "Limoncello Berry"—I love berries.

All the dishes were very appetizing and beautifully presented; the friendly service was very attentive and frequently checked on us at the table to ask if everything was alright and if we enjoyed our meal. There were no long waits either. We especially loved the sunny and, above all, quiet terrace. You sit in the heart of Schwabing in a little oasis of calm and enjoy delicious food. In bad weather or when the temperature is low, you'll find a very inviting atmosphere inside. I can easily imagine spending wonderful hours here, having lunch, dinner, or even breakfast on the weekend. So, we definitely give "The ASH" a thumbs up.
