Hilton Munich Park HOTEL – Who among you is familiar with the Hilton Munich Park Hotel, located right next to the English Garden? I recently had the opportunity to take a closer look at this chic hotel through an appointment. I learned a lot about the hotel and its dining options. My interest was quickly piqued, and I wanted to find out more about the Hilton Munich Park Hotel and, of course, its restaurants. With the popular "People's Bar" featuring live music, the "Tivoli Restaurant" offering Alpine and international cuisine, the upscale "Brunch in the Sky," and numerous other culinary highlights, there's always something on offer. I invite you to join me and discover what this stylish hotel has to offer.
The Hilton Munich Park Hotel
First, let's take a look at, or rather inside, the hotel, built in 1972. In my opinion, the Hilton Munich Park Hotel makes a great impression the moment you step into its spacious and stylish lobby. While you might not suspect it from the outside, the chic hotel immediately reveals its best side upon arrival, boasting stylish design, warm colors, and a very inviting atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed finding a spot in the lobby, unwinding a bit, and relaxing with a drink. Even though I, as a Munich resident, don't stay in hotels very often, I was intrigued to learn more about the hotel and its rooms. The hotel has 484 rooms – almost all with views of the English Garden or the city. It underwent extensive renovations and a complete redesign in 2012. The hotel's slogan is "Space to breathe" or "Sky above. Trees below. The park within," which further emphasizes the hotel's design concept and its perfect park setting. (You can also find out more about the "surroundings" and what the designers were thinking.) here (Read more.)
In my opinion, the hotel's location is unique. It's situated right next to the English Garden – one of the largest and greenest parks in the world – and is ideal for private stays, business trips, events, and more. I'm always on the lookout for places that invite you to linger and are "something special." Why not sit, work, and eat in a lounge in the hotel lobby? There's a lot on offer in terms of food, and this chic hotel boasts some fantastic gastronomic hotspots in Munich – you just have to know where to find them. Starting with the Hotel Restaurant Tivoli, about the Hotel bar „People's Bar“ including „People's Lounge“, up to seasonal highlights such as the „Summer BBQ“, dem "„Thanksgiving dinner“, dem "„Brunch in the Sky“ or also the „Fish Fridays“ There's always something going on for connoisseurs at the Hilton Munich Park Hotel.
The Tivoli Restaurant
Let's start with the heart of the hotel, the elegant Restaurant Tivoli – managed since October 2018 by Restaurant Manager Catherine Karanja and Head Chef Sebastian Lenz – responsible for creating perfect dishes since October 2016. Restaurant Tivoli stands for international cuisine and alpine freshness. The dishes offered are prepared from regional products and presented with modern elegance – without any unnecessary frills.
A glance at the menu quickly reveals the deliberate connection between the dishes and the restaurant's location. Both the adjacent English Garden and the Eisbach stream, which runs directly alongside the hotel and restaurant terrace, play a significant role in the menu's design. The menu is divided into soups, appetizers and salads, main courses, and desserts. It features international dishes prepared with regional ingredients and according to seasonal availability.
Dining at the Tivoli is like taking a mini-journey through the different Alpine regions: salads with Munich herbs, beef fillet from southern Germany, seasonal vegetables from regional partners and farmers, and perhaps a Bavarian cheese selection to finish. Sounds delicious, doesn't it? – I particularly appreciate that the menu isn't unnecessarily extensive, yet still offers something to suit every dietary need and taste. The upcoming "Fish Friday" event series (more details coming soon) will also take place in the Tivoli hotel restaurant – and of course, guests from the city and surrounding area are always welcome, just as they are for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
On the aforementioned sun terrace of the Restaurant Tivoli, the popular "Work a Tonic" after-work event series takes place during the warm summer months, attracting numerous Munich residents with music, a barbecue, and drinks. I'm already looking forward to my first summer evening there and have marked it prominently in my calendar. Also worth mentioning: The Tivoli offers a regularly changing three- or four-course "Food Lovers" menu, which always combines the latest seasonal highlights from the Tivoli menu – I won't be waiting long to try that either.
The People's Lounge and People's Bar
The People's Lounge Located in the hotel's entrance area, it's essentially a lobby café. Here, you can truly relax and unwind. Besides fresh coffee, teas, and other beverages, they also serve delicious cakes, healthy snacks, and much more. Inviting armchairs, seating areas, and sofas beckon you to linger. It's a great place to chat, work, or simply relax.
The counterpart to this is the People's Bar With bar manager Thomas Jobst. Popular with both hotel guests and numerous Munich locals who enjoy spending their evenings relaxing in a bar. No wonder, given the appealing selection of spirits, creative and unique cocktails, and seasonal drinks. Do you enjoy cocktails? Then why not try an ELXYir or Moscow Mule at the bar? The menu includes snacks and finger food, as well as salads and homemade sourdough pizza. On top of that, there's a very popular happy hour every day from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Also great: They offer a kind of whisky tasting in the People's Bar, where you can sample different types of whisky – for example, with the "Suntory Whiskey Test Set". Additionally, football fans can enjoy live broadcasts of all football matches, along with bar food and a great bar atmosphere. The bar is open daily until 1 a.m.
Important dates for "foodies" at the Hilton Munich Park Hotel
Since I've told you quite a lot, here's a summary. The "Brunch in the Sky" with panoramic views of the Alps (…I'll report on it in detail after my test…) usually takes place every Sunday from 12 pm to 3:30 pm. There's a summer break in August and September, or rather, only one date per month: Sunday, August 16th, 2020, and Sunday, September 13th, 2020. The brunch costs €59 per person; children under 12 pay only half price – more on that soon.
The aforementioned Work a Tonic terrace events will take place on Thursday evenings, June 18, 2020, July 17, 2020, and August 27, 2020. Summer BBQs at the Hilton Hotel are offered every Thursday and Friday on the legendary Eisbach terrace starting at 6 p.m. (for €45 per person). Reservations are not required for these. From March 13, 2020, until the end of the year, seven "Fish Fridays" events (also for €59 per person) will be held at the Hilton Munich Park Hotel. I will provide more information about these soon.
I'm really looking forward to my upcoming culinary highlights at the Hilton Munich Park Hotel. Have you ever been there and dined at Tivoli? Attended brunch or perhaps even booked a spot for Fish Friday? – I'm curious.
