Yum2take is a self-service Thai restaurant where you order your food at the counter. There are two Yum2take locations in Munich: one at Sebastiansplatz, directly opposite the Schrannenhalle at Marienplatz, and the other at Hohenzollernplatz in Schwabing. I only visited the one at Sebastiansplatz.
The cuisine at Yum2take is typically Asian and very delicious. They offer soups (e.g., wonton vegetable soup, organic turkey noodle soup, fine fish fillet soup, etc.), salads (e.g., papaya, carrot and Chinese cabbage salad or seafood and chili salad, etc.), snacks (e.g., spring rolls, king prawns, prawn skewers, etc.), stir-fries (typical Thai dishes such as fried noodles, Thai curry, etc.) and additional dishes such as organic turkey, chili noodles, shrimp or beef with rice.
Yum2take is a rather small restaurant with dark tables, dark walls, and a striking gold wall. Whenever I walk past it, or when I've eaten there, the tables—high tables with bar stools or long benches—are always full (around 8-10 tables). The food is prepared relatively quickly. After ordering, you receive a receipt, which also serves as your collection slip. There aren't any traditional menus—more like flyers with the menu printed on them, and a large chalkboard above the counter/cash register area listing all the dishes.
The portions are ample and reasonably priced – you're certainly paying a bit for the location (wok dishes, for example, cost 9-10 euros each). The staff is friendly, but you hardly interact with them, as they're only involved in ordering and picking up your food. The staff then collects your dishes from your table – they don't ask if you enjoyed your meal, which wouldn't really fit the Yum2take atmosphere and concept. Conceptually, it reminds me a bit of... Vapiano.
The photo shows how the food is presented. The kitchen is open until 10:30 pm – the restaurant until 11 pm; closed on public holidays. Card payments are accepted.
