I recently had dinner with my companion at Meissners. It's located at Arabella Park, near Rosenkavalierplatz in Bogenhausen. The restaurant is best reached by public transport via the U4 subway line/Arabellapark station. You'll still have a bit of a walk afterward. From the outside, the restaurant looks rather unassuming and only moderately inviting, as it's located on the ground floor of what I assume is an office building whose best days are numbered. Well, as they say, you shouldn't let something like that put you off. We went inside, and I immediately forgot about the somewhat unusual facade. 🙂 The ambiance is very friendly, with warm colors, lovely wallpaper, simple furniture, and a lot of – perhaps a bit too much – purple decorative elements, such as curtains, vases, flowers, candlesticks, etc. Overall, it's very meticulously coordinated, yet – at least in my companion's opinion – a little too fussy. I felt quite comfortable and found it cozy, but my companion didn't want to stay any longer than necessary. The photos will give you a first impression of the atmosphere and allow you to decide for yourself whether you would feel comfortable here.

Well, first and foremost, we came for the food and drinks, of course. And that's exactly what we did. After being presented with the menus relatively quickly, we opted for the Wiener Schnitzel with fried potatoes (€18.50) and a Caesar salad (€7) with king prawns as a topping for an additional €8. The salad was very tasty, and everything tasted just right – it was definitely worth the money. The prawns tasted very fresh and were easy to peel. The egg was also fresh and a good size. The dressing was delicious, went well with the salad, and there was plenty of Parmesan cheese sprinkled over it. My companion's schnitzel was also generally okay, but the breading was unfortunately far too salty, while the fried potatoes were a bit limp and not crispy enough. A small, raw sardine was placed on the lemon wedge that was on top of the schnitzel – something neither of us had ever seen served before, and it looked rather unappetizing. The accompanying side salad was nothing special, and the dressing was just oil, which wasn't particularly tasty. We also had a Hugo and a beer. The Hugo was delicious, but I found it lacking in elderflower syrup. My companion tried it and thought it was a bit too sweet – so, as always, it's a matter of taste. We lingered for a while, and afterwards we ordered a latte macchiato (€3.50) and an Arizona peach iced tea (€3.80). The latte macchiato was exactly as you'd want one – hot, not too strong, and with a lovely fluffy milk foam.

If schnitzel and salad don't appeal to you, you'll certainly find plenty of options on the rest of the menu. For example, the evening menu (from 5 pm) offers various appetizers between €7.50 and €17.50, such as whole artichoke with two kinds of dip, fried goat cheese on marinated beetroot, or beef tartare with a free-range egg, toasted rye bread, and a small salad. Soups – small and large – are available from €4.50 up to €8 for a large exotic tomato soup with shrimp. There's also a selection of pasta dishes (€10.50-€12.50), main courses (€14.50-€20.50), light meals (€5.50-€11.50), refreshing salads (from €6) with various toppings, and desserts (€4.50-€5). You can view the evening menu here. here View the full menu. Overall, a definitely successful mix of dishes. From Monday to Friday, between 11:30 am and 3:00 pm, there's also a daily changing lunch menu, including a lunchtime dessert and salad. The two different lunch options available each weekday cost either €7.90 (for example, gratinated zucchini with minced meat, feta, and tomato rice) or €6.50 (for example, farfalle with suckling pig ragout and mustard fruits). You can find the lunch menu directly on the left side of the website. Meissners also offers catering for events ranging from 10 to 1000 people. You can also contact the restaurant for catering services for weddings, birthdays, christenings, or similar celebrations.

After finishing our main courses and sitting for a while, we paid €51 including tip. For a beer (€2.90), a Hugo (€5.80), two main courses, an iced tea, and a latte macchiato, it was reasonable, but not exactly cheap. The restaurant isn't particularly centrally located, and while the food was tasty, it wasn't anything special. It couldn't have been any more expensive. The service was good and efficient. The main courses arrived simultaneously, were hot, and we didn't have to wait long. Overall, about half of the restaurant's 20 tables were occupied throughout the evening – mostly by adults, no children or teenagers. The long bar at the back of the restaurant offers additional seating. The restaurant is open Monday to Friday from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM and Saturday from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM. Meissners is closed on Sundays and public holidays.

If you enjoy dining in a pleasant atmosphere with friendly service and good food – in other words, an evening without much fuss, but still with a touch of class and flair – then this is definitely the place for you. After my visit, Meissners is one of those restaurants I can always go back to for a good meal without making a mistake. For these prices, there are certainly many other good restaurants that will leave you full and satisfied. Give it a try – the ambiance is also quite suitable for business meetings. Enjoy your meal!

I'll be back: Generally, yes. For simple food in a pleasant atmosphere, yes. My companion didn't feel so comfortable – it's a matter of opinion. I think it's perfect for eating and having a nice chat.
