Logo - LieblingsitalienerCorretto is one of my new favorites and also number eight of my ten "My Favorite Italian Restaurants" in Munich, which, as you know, I review for you. Opened 13 years ago, Corretto is located in Obermenzing, which isn't exactly central. However, the restaurant is the perfect example of an excellent Italian restaurant. So, it's always worth the slightly longer trip, and I can tell you right now: Try it! You absolutely must try it.

As my companion and I entered the restaurant, we were immediately greeted by a friendly gentleman and shown to our comfortable table for two with a good view of the entire restaurant. It wasn't long before the exceptionally friendly and personable restaurant manager introduced himself and explained that we didn't need to order from the menu, as he had prepared a selection of small courses for us. Most of these are currently also on the menu at Corretto. The menu changes regularly and features incredibly interesting and delicious creations.

To start, we opted for two deliciously refreshing Spritz drinks: a Wildberry Spritz (0.2l/€5.20) and a classic Hugo (0.2l/€6.80). Both were served promptly and tasted excellent, like everything else that evening. Once we were seated with our drinks, it wasn't long before we were served oven-fresh, warm pizza bread, nicely cut into bite-sized pieces (€3.20). We enjoyed this while waiting for our first course: grilled baby calamari with (normally) arugula salad (€17.80 for a standard antipasti portion). However, our dish was served with fresh fennel fronds instead of arugula because our next course already included it. This next course arrived quickly: grilled and smoked Scamorza cheese with homemade chili jam (€12.80 for a standard antipasti portion). Both antipasti dishes were delicious. The cheese is reminiscent of halloumi in appearance and texture, but tastes significantly better and more refined. Combined with the chili jam, it's divine. These two courses alone demonstrate that Corretto isn't your average neighborhood Italian restaurant; quality, extravagance, and creative dishes are the order of the day.

Next up was course number three: two homemade beetroot-filled ravioli with a hint of amaretto and ricotta to sample (pasta dishes from €13). Delicious, delicious, and delicious again! You can pretty much see the quality for yourselves in the pictures, but there was absolutely nothing to criticize. The restaurant manager, who is also the ice cream maker and chef, explained that with pasta, it's important to pay attention to the right ratio of filling to thickness of the pasta dough to achieve the perfect flavor – and he definitely succeeded here. Afterward, we had a super tasty fish and prawn combination (fish dishes from €18) on a bed of spinach. Another top-notch dish. The prawns were wonderfully easy to peel, the fish was incredibly tender, and combined with lemon and spinach, it was simply divine. Even though you're probably wondering where I ate all that, that wasn't the end of it. Next came a small portion of tagliolini with truffles (€15.50 for a regular portion). If you like truffle pasta, you'll love the tagliolini at Corretto and you absolutely should order it. Next came course number five – for me, a perfect (!) fish soup with homemade stock, and for my companion, ossobuco (veal shank) alla Milanese with mashed potatoes on the side (€15.90 for a regular portion). Even several days later, my companion was still raving about the taste and tenderness of the meat – so it's definitely worth trying on your visit. You might have guessed it already, but there was more to come – last but not least – dessert. A sweet mascarpone cream with marinated strawberries, red curaçao, and roasted almonds (€6.80). A dream, and after all the exquisite food and a total of six courses, the definitive proof: there's always room for more sweetness. In case you're wondering about the tiramisu in the photos: it was being eaten by two gentlemen at the next table, whose attention we attracted because new plates were being served every 20 minutes. I was allowed to take a picture and asked about it – they said it was perfect too. Of course, in addition to still water, there was also a delicious wine with each course: a Gaggioli Superiore Colli Bolognesi Pignoletto, which I honestly remembered so well because I really want to try it again. Perfect with fish, wonderfully crisp and with a smooth finish.

Once our plates were cleared and our glasses empty, we got back to talking with the restaurant manager, who told us he was originally an ice cream maker and offered us a taste of his delicious ice cream – which you can, of course, also order on-site. Naturally, I didn't say no 😉 and five minutes later we were sitting at the table with two delicious scoops of ice cream (chocolate and amaretto). Again: full marks and worth every indulgence. It's clear: this man knows what he's doing, and you absolutely shouldn't miss the ice cream during your visit.

So…the most important thing is done: the food. Admittedly, I was pretty full afterward (especially since I'd already been to another restaurant for lunch ;-)), but rarely has food tasted as good as at Corretto. You absolutely have to go there. The ambiance is also impeccable. If you're familiar with Tian and Theresa in Munich, you can combine the two, add a touch of Italian flair, and voilà, you're sitting in Corretto. Subtle colors, soft shades of gray, comfortable gray leather banquettes, lots of glass and windows, numerous photos on the simple wallpaper, small boxwood shrubs, stylish lamps, subdued lighting, parquet floors, and light-colored tables. Overall, simply cozy and inviting. So inviting, in fact, that my companion and I were the last guests, even though every single one of the approximately 85 seats inside was occupied. The atmosphere is fantastic, and we felt very comfortable.

Of course, Restaurant Corretto also offers lunch from Tuesday to Friday, 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Here you can expect pizza, pasta, game, and fish at fair prices, all of perfect quality and with great taste. Corretto's pizzas are wood-fired and – as far as I could tell from the pizzas I saw being carried past – quite delicious.

The modern, feel-good atmosphere is naturally enhanced by the incredibly friendly and efficient staff, always ready for a quick chat and keeping a watchful eye on empty glasses, plates, and guests. In short, there's nothing at Corretto that isn't just right. Quite the opposite, in fact. This is the place for perfect Italian food, which is happily prepared individually upon request and, depending on availability, in smaller portions. They don't cook strictly and monotonously from a standard menu; instead, they constantly offer new and exciting creations. I don't know what I like best: the combination of the cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and an exceptionally warm restaurant manager, or the exquisite food. Hop in the car (or on the train) to Obermenzing and see for yourself. I'm absolutely certain you'll love it here. Whether it's for a first date, a family celebration, a Christmas party, or with friends or acquaintances, thumbs up for Corretto! In short: For fresh, individual creations made with the finest ingredients, this is the place to go. The ambiance, service, and prices are also commensurate with the performance.

The restaurant also boasts a spacious terrace that seats over 120 people. It's open daily from 11:30 am to midnight, except Mondays. Hot meals are served from noon until approximately 10:00/10:30 pm. Please remember to make a reservation, otherwise you might have to wait, as Corretto has many regular customers. That wouldn't be too bad, though; you'll simply be offered some focaccia or prosecco while you wait. 🙂 Card payments are accepted, parking is no problem, and leaving satisfied and happy is guaranteed.

I'll be back: In any case.
