GAGGENAU Showroom – exclusive cooking events with renowned Michelin-starred chefs – Do you enjoy going for walks? I do, very often, for long stretches, and just in a straight line. What does that have to do with enjoying life, eating, cooking, and especially Gaggenau? – Well, I was walking back from an appointment and ended up on Denninger Straße in Bogenhausen. To my right, near the Richard-Strauss-Straße U-Bahn station, was the shopping center with a drugstore, supermarket, and restaurant. To my left – a little further down the street – was the Gaggenau showroom, shining in all its glory, on the ground floor of a chic glass complex. So I went there and peeked inside. Through the glass facade, I could see stylish designer ovens and kitchens, lots of warm wood, high-quality materials, and invitingly long tables in a bright and friendly atmosphere. My interest was piqued, and after I saw that very well-known (Munich) Michelin-starred chefs hold personal and very exclusive cooking events in the Gaggenau showroom, I was practically inside already…

…my second foot followed, and I took some time to look around the showroom more closely. Often, one hesitates to enter doors that promise exclusivity from the outside, but I never think anything of it, and in the case of the Gaggenau showroom, I was rewarded. Before I go into a little more detail: Are you familiar with Gaggenau? – Anyone who enjoys cooking well with high-quality ingredients and expects the corresponding equipment in their own kitchen will certainly know Gaggenau – the multi-award-winning expert for built-in kitchen appliances in the private sector. The company's history goes way back. If we had all been strolling through the Black Forest in 1683 (…there it is again, that strolling thing…), we could have already become acquainted with the Gaggenau company, because Gaggenau existed back then – albeit as a hammer and nail forge. The floor-to-ceiling tree trunks placed in the Munich showroom are meant to remind us of its Black Forest origins. Wherever you look, you'll find thoughtful details and a "yes, I feel comfortable here" feeling.

I had a look around, got to know a few oven models (…definitely do this on-site, even if you don't currently need an oven, because it's simply fun…) and asked a few "oven beginner questions." While I don't have any Gaggenau appliances in my kitchen – partly because I spend more time in Munich's restaurants than in front of my own pots and pans – I've always enjoyed high-quality kitchen equipment – if only because, without it, nothing would end up on my plate ;-). Anyone who would like to treat themselves to a somewhat luxurious oven but is hesitant due to technical concerns can learn how to cook, bake, steam, or even sous-vide at a "Gaggenau live" event. There, you cook four courses with on-site culinary instructors and can learn about the functions, operation, and maintenance of the appliances. Personally, however, I'm not planning on buying any new kitchen equipment right now, so after the ovens and appliances, my attention went straight to the cooking events.

Exclusive cooking events with renowned Michelin-starred chefs

Cooking events like the ones held here in this showroom are, to my knowledge, unique in Munich! True culinary luminaries prepare menus for a small number of guests, creating unforgettable moments. Wine experts are also on hand. Anyone who secures a spot in the Gaggenau showroom for one of these cooking events will have the opportunity to watch renowned chefs like Christian Jürgens, Bobby Bräuer, Jan Hartwig, and Tohru Nakamura at work. Ali Güngörmüs, the WildBakers, and Fleischglück, as "professionals of culinary culture," also showcase their skills during these events. As a guest, you'll be there live, able to watch, ask questions, and be amazed. The events are highly individual and varied, sometimes starting in the late morning, sometimes in the evening. Each one, however, is designed to be an inspiring experience for the participants. Clearly, this isn't an everyday occurrence, and you naturally want to savor and enjoy both the experience itself and the food with all your senses. Under precisely this guise, the menus of Jürgens, Bräuer and Co. are also prepared – it should be fun, one should also learn something and of course taste good.

What I find fantastic is that there are a maximum of 20 people per cooking event – the atmosphere is quite intimate. While there are also Michelin-starred restaurants that can only accommodate a few guests, you obviously don't get to stand right next to the chef, watching them work their magic. Just like at a Michelin-starred restaurant, the menu prepared on-site is served and enjoyed in a fitting ambiance. A particular highlight is the presence of a winemaker who also presents the wines being served. Simply put, as a guest at a Gaggenau cooking event, you experience haute cuisine up close in a very private and pleasant setting – wine expertise included.

I'm really looking forward to the cooking event on April 7th, 2019 with Bobby Bräuer.

A few more personal words…

Personally, I think there's nothing better than good food, right? And when exquisite dishes are served in the form of magnificent menus by renowned top chefs, it's (culinary) heaven on earth for me. Gaggenau combines this with expertise, style, and exclusivity in the form of the Gaggenau Showroom. I can assure you that there aren't countless other opportunities, and there never will be, where you can get so close to a professional chef. Naturally, the price of the evening or afternoon reflects this exclusivity, quality, and uniqueness. Those who are happy to pay a fair price for good food can certainly also consider the value of the memories that the Gaggenau Showroom cooking events will provide. I'll be there myself on April 7th and am really looking forward to shaking Bobby Bräuer's hand, eating at his restaurant again, and experiencing the Gaggenau Showroom in person for the first time.
