Hofkücherl Forstinning The Hofkücherl in Forstinning isn't exactly easy to find, and unless it's recommended to you or you happen to glance into the small, flower-adorned courtyard, you'll almost certainly miss it. From the outside, it looks more like a Bavarian house, but as soon as you step inside the Bavarian restaurant, you quickly feel at home, as if you're in one of the most authentic Bavarian restaurants around. The interior is very cozy and rustic, with wooden furniture, small checkered tablecloths, relatively low ceilings, and a truly Bavarian ambiance with lots of wood, waitresses in traditional dress, and plenty of Bavarian decorations.

The menu of the Hofkücherl

The menu offers soups, appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The desserts, especially the Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake), were particularly delicious. If you don't fancy Kaiserschmarrn, you can also choose from apple fritters, crème brûlée, chocolate cake, sorbet, or mousse. The Kaiserschmarrn was exceptionally tasty, enough for two, and tasted exactly as you'd expect from a Bavarian Kaiserschmarrn. At Hofkücherl, you'll be served exceptionally fine and very generously portioned food. You should definitely stop by, if only for the ambiance. There are many Bavarian restaurants – but one with this atmosphere and cuisine is rare.

The main courses (for example, Kässpatzen with spinach, suckling pig, ox cheeks, salmon trout fillet, duck breast, pike-perch fillet) provide a good (Bavarian) mix on the menu and are all reasonably priced.

The staff is very friendly, the food is delicious, and the ambiance—well, as I said: it doesn't get more Bavarian than this. So, if you're willing to drive a bit to enjoy tasty Bavarian dishes, you should definitely stop by Hofkücherl. Reservations are a must, though. In this case, "hidden" unfortunately doesn't mean unknown. 😉

I've been there several times and would definitely come back. If you're looking for something other than a standard restaurant, head to Hofkücherl. You're sure to love it. I felt very comfortable there, and the abundance of wood, the relatively low ceilings, and the cozy atmosphere, combined with the delicious food, create a wonderful, welcoming ambiance.
