Hot Wok – Delivery service review via pizza.de | Asian restaurant My penultimate delivery service review has taken place – as they say, you should always quit while you're ahead. As usual, I was in the mood for Asian food. Since I've been a bit more adventurous in my last few tests, I went back to Asian restaurants this time. But to keep things interesting for you and prevent you from starting to doubt whether I might actually be half Japanese, I focused on other dishes instead of sushi this time. 🙂

I decided on Hot Wok. Hot Wok has two locations in Munich, both in the Perlach area. I ordered from the branch on Ampfinger Straße. If the delivery service isn't open yet, you can also pre-order here, meaning you can browse the menu and choose your food. They offer a wide variety. In addition to affordable lunch specials, there are various Thai dishes, sushi (maki, nigiri, uramaki, temaki, sashimi, and set menus), meat dishes, seafood dishes, rice and noodle dishes – including vegetarian options – as well as appetizers, soups, salads, drinks, and desserts.

Selection and evaluation of the dishes
Once I ordered Pad Thai with shrimp. Admittedly, it's a very common and somewhat Germanized dish. One of my favorite Thai dishes, when it's well-prepared. The portion (for €12.90) with shrimp was huge. As I've mentioned before in my delivery service reviews, you always have to differentiate between receiving your food on a plate and in a practical, heat-retaining aluminum box. The food simply can't be presented as appetizingly as it would be at a Thai restaurant. This was also the case with the Pad Thai. Taste-wise, it was fine and definitely recommendable. There was plenty of shrimp, vegetables, and noodles. The price-performance ratio was also good. I ordered salmon fillet with Thai curry (for €13.60). I don't know why, but I was expecting a piece of salmon fillet and a separate portion of Thai curry, but instead I received a massive amount of yellow and very flavorful Thai curry with lots of fresh vegetables and bits of salmon swimming in it. The fish was tender and had a delicate flavor, but unfortunately it was somewhat lost in the intensely flavored curry.
The salad with dressing
We also ordered the fried noodles in peanut sauce again (€9.40). Simply because peanuts are so delicious in every imaginable form: sauce, roasted, sprinkled on top, as a dip, etc. Unfortunately, they went a bit overboard with the peanuts in this fried noodle dish; the sauce was more like a dip in consistency, making the whole meal too heavy and thick. The quality of the noodles themselves was fine, but they had lost their natural flavor. To be fair, the menu item was "thick peanut sauce." I suggest renaming it "extremely thick peanut sauce" ;-). Since I always like to have some vitamins with my meal, I chose a mixed salad with my choice of balsamic dressing (€4.40). It was excellent and huge. I even shared it with my companion, and we left a little bit. So, if you're in the mood for a salad with your main course, this is the place to go.
My food
Yes, we were hungry, but of course I also wanted to try a good variety of dishes with plenty of different flavors for you. So we ordered "Alaska Maki" (for €5.90) and, for a sweet finish, a mango cream (200 ml for €3.90). The sushi was fine, but in my opinion, rolled too thickly; my whole mouth was full of rice. The ingredients, however, were fresh and delicious. The mango cream was fantastic. Mango is a great dessert option in my opinion anyway—nice and sweet, satisfying, and refreshing all at once. In total, we paid €50.10 and didn't have to wait long for delivery.

Key facts, information, and personal conclusion
I can recommend Hot Wok. Maybe not specifically for the noodles in the very thick peanut sauce ;-), but definitely overall. There are better, and there are much worse delivery services on pizza.de. A plus for the fast delivery time and the friendly gentleman at the door. The price-performance ratio was also good. I would order sushi elsewhere, but I'd order Pad Thai from here again, for example. See for yourselves in the pictures.

You can prepare delicious and inexpensive meals in a wok; you control the spiciness and seasoning yourself. The basic principle is: briefly stir-fry chopped, and optionally marinated, meat, remove it, stir-fry finely chopped aromatic ingredients (ginger and garlic), then add the chopped vegetables according to their cooking time, stir-fry, pour in the broth or other liquid, bring to a boil briefly, and just before the end, return the meat to the wok. Thicken the sauce if necessary (with cornstarch or potato starch). Garlic, ginger, and curry powder, or a ready-made or homemade spice blend, are perfectly sufficient seasonings. Once you become familiar with this method, you can explore and discover other possibilities.
