Meat in Bun Burger ordered from Lieferheld – Since I hadn't had a burger in a while, my plan for my next order through Lieferheld was exactly this: order a burger from one of the delivery services listed there. The selection is relatively large for my postal code area, so I decided on a burger joint. It was to be one that I hadn't just discovered on Lieferheld, but had actually tried in person: Meat in Bun. Meat in Bun is one of the newer burger places in Munich and is centrally located in the city center. The selection and rating of burgers on Lieferheld

Now, about my order and choices. My companion and I ordered together. We each had two different burgers, potato wedges, and chicken nuggets as a side dish, as well as a Caprese salad. My companion was also drawn to the rice pudding, while I was more interested in the cookies from the dessert category. We paid just under €50 for everything. Before I go into detail, I have to say: Lieferheld (the delivery service) did a great job overall, but the burger service itself didn't. That doesn't mean everything was terrible, but it was far from satisfactory. It's best if you take a look for yourselves. this photo (also in the gallery). That was supposed to be my tomato with buffalo mozzarella (!). Either the delivery person tripped and fell right on my Caprese salad, or it was simply awful. First, the balsamic dressing I ordered was missing, meaning I just had dried-out tomatoes and (buffalo =?) mozzarella, and – dear Meat in Bun team – presentation matters. Charging €5.90 for that is a bit cheeky. Oh well. As mentioned, I'm already familiar with the burgers, potato wedges, and homemade sauces from a previous visit. I was thrilled then and would eat burgers there again. The burgers that were delivered were okay. I ordered an organic fried egg and avocado to go with my "Kissing Mandy" burger, which came with fresh mustard, feta cheese, zucchini, bell peppers, olives, mushrooms, onions, and juicy beefsteak tomatoes. The burger starts at €8.30, but with the additional sides and optional whole-wheat bread, it comes to a hefty €11.80. Quite expensive for a vegetarian burger, but the generous toppings and my own extras make it acceptable. Charging more for the bread because whole-wheat is chosen instead of sourdough (for example) is also fine – as long as it's actually used.

My companion's burger, a "Bigger Sam" with 420g of beef, triple cheddar, and onions, started at €13.90. Reasonable for the huge portion. My companion also ordered BBQ sauce, fried onions, and whole-wheat bread. The burger came to €15.70 (!). That's really expensive for a burger. When they both arrived, we were both impressed with the burgers – both visually and in terms of taste. You can already see from the pictures that they were generously filled. Unfortunately, the bottom half of my bun was very soggy, which was certainly due to the amount of toppings and the egg. However, I couldn't eat it without a knife and fork. The journey and time spent in the styrofoam box probably hadn't been kind to it; a thin, absorbent cloth might have helped. Once the burger was in my mouth, though, there was nothing to complain about. Very tasty, very fresh, and, of course, filling. My avocado was a little unripe, so I left it. The potato wedges (an extra €2.70) were fantastic. I know from my previous visit that they're homemade, with the skin on, nice and crisp, and served with a choice of homemade dip (there are five different options) – very, very good and noticeably fresher and better than elsewhere. However, my companion's side dish was truly awful. I'm sorry to say that. See also here the image The picture shows the potato wedges and the "chicken nuggets." In this case, they were three ice-cold, rather hard, and overly breaded... well... sticks. 😉 Unfortunately, they didn't really resemble nuggets at all. They were the XXL nuggets from the menu, and my companion didn't like them at all. If you're going to travel a certain distance to reach your customers, you should ensure that the food arrives hot and fresh.

The rice pudding with cherry compote (€3.50) is, along with the cookies and a muffin (flavor unknown), the only dessert on offer. There aren't any more available on-site either, but that's acceptable for a burger joint. The rice pudding was delicious, and I ate half of my companion's. 🙂 The cookies (€2 each) are soft and packed with chocolate chips. It's a bit odd that the spaces on the back where the expiration date should be are blank. Oh well. I ate them, and they seemed fresh.

My personal conclusion

In summary, I would order the burgers again, but only with potato wedges. Chicken nuggets and salad will definitely not be on my menu. When I visited the restaurant previously, I only ordered the potato wedges, and everything was perfect. So, you're better off sticking with the burgers; I'm sorry to say, but I'd advise against ordering the rest. Perhaps distance (restaurant to home) and the burger's toppings (lots of extras?) do play a role in terms of appearance, temperature, and bun texture, but the chicken nuggets and the Camprese salad were truly inedible. Parts of the order weren't fulfilled (the balsamic dressing was missing, and the bread wasn't whole wheat), and that kind of spoiled the whole experience. However, I want to emphasize again that the burgers tasted great both in the restaurant and at home. They were delicious, and I would still eat the meat-in-a-bun burgers there or order them again via Lieferheld.
