Last night we went to Myra, a Turkish restaurant in Sendling. Myra is a very chic restaurant in Munich-Sendling and is easily accessible by public transport, but it's also relatively easy to find parking on Thalkirchnerstraße if you're driving. The restaurant is very stylish inside: gold wall coverings, dark tables, a long bar, chic lamps, subdued lighting – a great atmosphere.
After we came in, we initially thought we wouldn't get a table and were about to leave when a very friendly waiter and the owner approached us and, after asking if we were staying for dinner, asked us to wait at the bar. We waited less than five minutes before being seated at a small table for two. We were quickly asked what we would like to drink and given the elegant menus.
Once we'd decided what we wanted, the appetizer arrived very quickly – even faster than our drinks, which we'd ordered just five minutes earlier – though these were brought immediately after. The appetizer was tasty but not particularly special: filled phyllo pastry triangles with spinach ("Muska Böregi"). It was served on a bed of salad with a traditional Turkish sauce. The main courses (Ege Güvec and Sebzeli Pirasa) arrived about 15 minutes after we'd finished the appetizer. Both dishes tasted very good and fresh – but rather un-Turkish. In other words, it could just as easily have been a vegetable stew or some German dish with shrimp. Although I hadn't eaten much all day, I couldn't finish my main course – which also came with rice and a yogurt dip on a separate plate. Neither could my companion.
We ordered more pita bread and received a large basket – at no extra charge – which was then added to our bill. When the genuinely friendly and joking waitresses – all Turkish – cleared our (almost) empty plates, we decided to order desserts as well. The waiter recommended baklava and Turkish rice pudding. We followed his recommendation and weren't disappointed: the desserts were delicious and incredibly sweet.
The restaurant's ambiance is truly wonderful. Around 9:30 pm, the lights were dimmed a bit more, creating a lovely atmosphere. It was a little noisy, though – which was surely due to the tables being completely full.
We ended up paying €54 including tip – which was reasonable – it couldn't have been more expensive. Generally, I'm happy to spend a bit more when the staff is really friendly and attentive – even though the food was good but not exceptional. The drinks (a 0.2l Diet Coke and an apple spritzer) at €6 were already above average in price.

Generally, yes. If I really wanted traditional Turkish food, I would try something other than the dishes mentioned above or get a (vegetarian) doner kebab. 🙂 It was tasty, but not very Turkish. The restaurant had a great atmosphere.
