To life! – Cheers with the new Prosecco DOC Rosé

„To life!“ – A toast with the new Prosecco DOC Rosé – The past few months have forced us to eat, drink, relax, and enjoy ourselves almost entirely at home. In my personal life, this has meant that evenings on the patio with my loved ones and friends—as a substitute for long restaurant visits, accompanied by good food and drinks—have become increasingly important. Even though the situation is now easing for us, I'm very happy overall about some new highlights I've discovered during these enforced evenings at home. Without them, I probably wouldn't have experienced so much and would have missed out on new things and a lot of know-how.

My companion and I experienced a particularly pleasant surprise, for example, during the home tasting of the new Newcomer Prosecco DOC Rosé on my terrace during a small "Rose@Home" event. True to the motto #DrinkPink The two of us made ourselves comfortable – accompanied by Italian antipasti, ciabatta and fresh fruit – and enjoyed the new Prosecco DOC Rosé We tasted it. While sitting and chatting, we started to wonder: What actually characterizes a high-quality and genuine Prosecco DOC Rosé, and how can you recognize truly good quality?

The new Prosecco DOC Rosé – a sparkling wine of the highest class

Don't worry if you're not yet a sparkling wine expert. That's perfectly fine and has nothing to do with "being able to enjoy" them. Let's delve a little into the world of Prosecco DOC: This type of sparkling wine always and without exception comes from Italy. DOC stands for Protected Designation of Origin (Denominazione di Origine Controllata) and was created through the collaboration of winegrowers, winemakers, and bottlers from nine Italian provinces. Prosecco has been a DOC sparkling wine since July 2009 – the first indication of quality in your glass.

The newcomer Prosecco DOC Rosé is a true highlight among the sparkling wines of Northeast Italy. Why? – There are many reasons. Firstly, it skillfully combines the evolution of winemaking with centuries-old tradition, and secondly, it passes on knowledge handed down from generation to generation. It expertly blends the North Italian charm of the exceptional region between Veneto and the Friuli-Venezia Giulia wine region – one of the most beautiful corners of Northern Italy. In short: Prosecco DOC Rosé comes from a truly excellent and beautiful region renowned for its winemaking. Anyone who drinks Prosecco DOC Rosé will immediately recognize, even without extensive prior knowledge, the distinct difference compared to other sparkling wines – it's no coincidence that this new wine symbolizes quality and conviviality, as well as stylish moments, relaxation, and serenity.

Combined with antipasti, ciabatta and the like, the Prosecco DOC Rosé tastes absolutely wonderful.

How can you recognize a genuine Prosecco DOC Rosé?

Listen up! Not all Prosecco is created equal, and choosing the right one on the shelf can be tricky. If your trusted retailer isn't helping, you're on your own. But don't worry, with a few facts in mind, you'll definitely find the right bottle. While relying solely on the label of a (sparkling) wine is generally considered a poor indicator of the right bottle, a careful look at the label of a new Prosecco DOC Rosé will clearly reveal whether you're picking up the real thing. You can recognize genuine Prosecco DOC (Rosé) by... blue seal or blue band on the Bottleneck. He always comes and exclusively from northeastern Italy. If that's not the case, you don't have a real Prosecco DOC in your hands.

Furthermore, a true Prosecco DOC Rosé always consists of 85 % Glera Grapes and additionally from 10 to 15 % Pinot Nero grapes, Prosecco DOC Rosé, produced using the same red wine vinification method, is a dynamic and vibrant sparkling wine with floral aromas and hints of fresh fruit. It is, of course, never available in cans or barrels, but only in its distinctive glass bottles. A Prosecco DOC Rosé is always and without exception a "Millesimato," meaning it is made exclusively from at least 851% of the grapes from the same vintage. It is always a sparkling wine (never a Sekt!), also called "Spumante," and can also be described as a "dry sparkling wine.".

When shopping, pay attention to the mentioned features when choosing the new Prosecco DOC Rosé.

From Brut Nature to Extra Dry (Brut Nature, Extra Brut, Brut, Extra Dry) There's something to suit every individual taste. Depending on the version, Prosecco DOC has a different amount of residual sugar and a different flavor profile: Brut Nature – no residual sugar, intense, sharp flavor notes; Extra Brood – low residual sugar, predominantly acidic; Brood – the most modern variety with an intense aroma, ideal for international cuisine; Extra Dry: the classic, perfect for aperitifs and delicate dishes.

Prosecco DOC (Rosé): The correct tasting

And, have you learned anything new yet? 🙂 – Because now it's time to taste. Focus your eyes and nose on the glass as soon as you open the bottle, because after pouring, you'll surely notice the typically delicate bubbles and the pleasant rosé hue of the Prosecco. The shimmering color of the Prosecco DOC Rosé alone reveals that this sparkling wine impresses with its exceptional quality and elegance – even before the first sip. This outstanding quality is partly due to its extended 60-day aging on the lees. This is how its bubbles are created through fermentation using the "Martinotti/Charmat" method. An extra pleasant and subtly sparkling drinking experience unfolds on the tongue and palate. A long-lasting, refreshing Prosecco in your glasses is therefore guaranteed and yet another mark of quality.

Rosé time at home! This is how to enjoy it….

When you smell your drink, white blossoms, apple, and citrus fruits dominate, enriched with raspberry notes from Pinot Noir. The first sip of the Prosecco is soft and refreshing; the bubbles caress the palate, and the enjoyment is simply perfect. Compared to Prosecco DOC, it is somewhat more structured.

Be sure to try it and let me know what you think of the new Prosecco DOC Rosé…

When trying Prosecco, the right temperature is crucial for perfect enjoyment. Prosecco DOC Rosé is best enjoyed at a temperature of around six to eight degrees Celsius, as it is always and without exception served cold. Chill your bottle in the refrigerator for about five to six hours before drinking, and then nothing will stand in the way of your perfect moment of enjoyment. Prosecco DOC Rosé pairs well with antipasti, grissini, cantuccini, ham, cheese, and is ideal with Mediterranean dishes.
