For example, within 11 years, energy efficiency was increased by 241,030, and electricity consumption was reduced by 180,000 kWh, made possible by utilizing the waste heat from the new refrigeration system. This allows Ricola to have farmers cultivate 7,140 ares – an area roughly equivalent to 100 football fields – with herbs for the production of its herbal candies.
